I wouldn't mind a very quick and easy grind. If there was something repeatable I could do to get a mimic every time that only took 2-3 minutes I could definitely be bothered to grind out one piece of equipment!

As is I think mimic tokens are just going to sit in my bag, unless they do this a few times a year Tongue waaaaaay too fuckin much trouble just to get 1 thing.

And you could do exactly that. Mimic Bait ALWAYS spawns mimics regardless of character level or chest ransack status.
My wife and I have farmed Irestone using lvl 15 warlocks for over 800 tokens.

Cordo in a livestream said they'd going to have the event every quarter or so so it wouldn't make a lot of sense for the mimic tokens to disappear so quickly.

You spent 16,000 DDO points on mimic bait? You paid $125 for a bunch of junk mimic items?

If they were double sale points, it's only 75 dollars.  If he saying they each got 400 (800 total) because you each get one per mimic, then it is 8000 points.  About 35 dollars.  Still. I don't think the gear was worth that many tp.   I'd rather have an Ottos box or some sov pots.  For me, xp > gear until ravenloft.   But to each his own.  If they had fun together in game then it's all good.

While my heart knows this is the right answer, my head and gut are in agreement that there are much, much, MUCH more worth wild long, tedious grinds in this game that would have been a better investment in money and time than the mimic junk.

Since the tokens don't expire, and you open chests as part of usual questing, it's a nice little "event" I guess.
I got around 100 tokens just doing the normal shit I usually do. Got the necklace for my bard and a collectable crate and stashed the rest for next time.

It's not really worth hard core grinding tokens out, but it's just something you pick up along the way of normal questing that doesn't require you to interact with snarky kobolds or stand around in a fucking graveyard for hours and hours, so yay?

I think more events that happen more regularly (that don't introduce crippling lag like the cove) is better.  Ones that don't have to necessarily dominate the game play or take away from regular questing but augment it.  They give regular reasons to log in and incentives to keeping people engaged.

I'm fine with it, although I think the costs are about 25% too high.  I'd have liked to see the items go for 60 tokens vs. 80.  Or, be scaled such that they started out at 20 or 30 for the Level 4 items and ended up at 80 at the high end.  Maybe go up by about 10 per tier.

Honestly, I felt like this go around it enhanced gameplay rather than disturbed it. Which is nice; I love the feeling of mimics spawning at random to capture a sense of tabletop's randomness. Though I admit they spawned rather frequently when folks knew how to abuse the mechanics.

If they took frequency and HP down a bit, I'd say leave the mimics on permanently. And just have the trader appear every quarter, much like the special remnant trader.

Oh dear God. The whining on the DDO Forums over such would be Legendary!  Grin

Well, the event is over, and I walked away with a grand total of 8 tokens! If this keeps up in about 10 years I should have an item!

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

I didn't try to farm mimics.  Or buy bait.  I ended up with about 75 tokens.

Ditto. Just regular questing and had a little over 100.
Did you run the same quests over and over and ransack the spawn chance?
