I have a theory how the deletions work.

I think they got Cordovan (spelling?) nice and drunk and had the character deletion set up and keyed randomly to a game of either Whack-A-Mole or Space Invaders and let him play it for a few hours while feeding him drinks.

Hi, my name is Revaulting, and it's been three months since I last logged in to DDO. Today, I was tempted, because it would be funny if I caught a ban.

It made me login. I wasn't banned (not shocking since it has been months since I played), hit the spacebar a couple times, did a gold roll, and logged out. It was fun times. Perhaps I will play again in 3 months.

I have zero gear from the last 2 updates, so I am not sure any of it is useful, hahaha.

The gold roll was exciting to see if I would get anything, that was about it. The excitement also died cuz I roll a 34. Not cool.

Think I got a mirror of glamering from a roll, once. That was exciting. Not $10 worth of exciting, but still. Maybe what really got me to stop playing was Ravenloft. The feeling I get from expansions that aren't included in subscription. Like buy one, okay. Two? Three? On top of a sub? No.

That's a general problem for any subscription game. Inflation cuts revenue, and people are much more likely to make a one time purchase than they are to keep subscribing if the price of the sub. goes up. I don't know why SSG doesn't offer a shiny! new! improved! adjective-of-choice subscription alongside the old one, though: New subscription includes the expansions to-date; costs more. I'd pay for that. But I'm dropping VIP, because a subscription that gives access to all content, except for whatever new thing everyone is playing just doesn't thrill me.

I am dropping VIP just because I cannot bother to play the game much. I am just turned off by the grind, what is the next kind of lives they are going to come up with?

They should fuse races and class lives. It would speed up the grind and make it more interesting.  Classes should just be a side bonus to racial and Iconic past lives. Shit, I think Iconic should get the Epic, Iconic, and class past life all in one fell swoop.

Anyways, I grindind out the triple completionist on my monk and wizard, and most of it on my sorc. I can't bother with more of the same grind, with the same content, with stupider people then was playing 3 years ago.

If they made sure all the content was worth playing(XP-wise) I'd come back, but there's too much grinding the same old quests in all the wrong places. That and the customer service is so bad I don't ever want to give them another dime. I have 2 more otto's boxes and 10k turbine points to use up, after that will probably quite entirely when my current sub finally runs dry.

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

That's an intense amount of grinding! No wonder you're bored with the game.

I honestly think they should reduce the XP it takes to reach 20 for people on their TRs. The only thing they're doing by keeping it such an intense grind is boring people out of the game.

Dude, I have been playing for what, 9 fucking years ?
Don't have heroic completionist.

Try epic high skulls. That's like old times and fun with some people. That and occassional raid.
Fuck the grind. Play the game. Mass murderer like you surely has some friends.

True about the "stupider". Average pug is rock bottom raise simulation. Exactly because all they experience is trivial hamster wheel zerg.

Been playing since launch, but I like to min max. I want every little minute bonus. I can't help it, I am obsessive like that.

I was fine until racial past lives. I would login for new content, dominate it, raid with guildies and pass gear, then wait for the next thing. After racial lives, all I could think was, "Didn't I do this already?", "Did they really just create the EXACT same grind that was there before?" "Fuck it."

The only difference is, the xp cap was higher when I grinded out my class lives then what it is was when they released racial.

Reaper was a bit fun, I was soloing R2 on my monk for my human racial lives. Made good time with it. Also tanked VOD with my monk on R2 for the lolz. A lot of surprised noobs at that. Sad times for DDO.

I really should just raise him back to cap and farm the joke of an endgame again. Might restore some interest... If only I could just get past level 18....

Across all my alts combined, I have maybe ten TRs. I'm shit at organizing, and shit at throwing things away, so the TR cache really gums up my inventory-Tetris flow.

I have cleared out enormous amounts of old Epic and Raid gear.
I used to have all of the old raid gear, and most of what could be epiced - epicfied.

Tring has made me say goodbye to many old items (that are completely irrelevant) but I liked having the whole set from the raids Sad

I forget whose idea it was (maybe Flav's?), that there ought to be a collector's tome, similar in style to what they have going for the monster manuals, except this would hold one of each raid item. I liked that idea. Could even make the items non-retrievable once in the tome, especially given how fucking useless 99% of the gear is. Once upon a time, they could have tied it in to its own guild ship amenity; items going on display as they're collected. Shit, now that they've got sentient jewels to eat up all that old gear, a collector's tome would add a whole new grind. SSG should love that.

That would have been neat. I think it was Flav who originally brought it up. Not that I would go through farming seals and shards again, but running around with dual E/Chaosblades was a blast, just for the looks.

Keep rolling gold for a few more years and maybe you'll score a mirror. Then only a few years after that, you might roll another, and presto! You can have a blast again, running around with dual cosmetic Chaosblades.
