What's the drop rate/chance with this thing? Made 12 attempts at looting it from the rare spawn but not once did it drop. I don't know if it's been discussed before or not but so far i'm not having any luck.

Is it even worth farming or would I be better off waiting and waiting until one pops up in the AH?

well it took me like 6 runs with 2 other friends to get it so...

At 4+ while Swashbuckling you will notice the difference for sure.   

And at 6+ and Fighter Kensai Strike with No Thought.

If not SwashB or Kensai  then I believe the soonest you will see a difference is @ level 12+ with T5 VKF enh.

Regardless the Sky Pirate's Dagger crit profile will give the most benefit in Mid to High Heroic content (where there are many more options that make more sense for actual game play considering DR breaking)

In the long term (several builds planned around dagger) it might be worth doing some targeted farming and AS purchasing. 

For w/e build you have compare Crit mods vs character level that you get the mod vs weapons available.

In the short term it's a wash when you consider the effort to get.

They can claim that, but I'd be surprised if it's that high.  I tried for the staff in heroic 3BC a few years ago and spent a lot of time and shards before giving it up.

Same with the rares on the way to the fire caves.  I hit them every life and have never seen a named item drop in their chests.

For the hell of it I tried for the dagger.  Hit the chest and rerolled (it's cheap at least) 3 times.  Twelve shots at it and it didn't drop.

Best bets going to use a mix of shards for rerolling and either duel boxing or recruiting some people for a few runs.  Good luck.

By the way, I think things like this and specific drops in annoying quests (like the scimitar and Falchion in Toxic Treatment - FUCK THAT QUEST) are the best use for the potions of get-named-items.

Never thought about getting through it with iconic though so that's a good idea.

Thankfully, they are not in the store. Even SSG seems to think that would be too P2W.  (They are in the big Sharn set, though)

Also a bit aggravated, just as I made the OP there was a Sky dagger on the AH for 10k... after getting in a bidding war and the price raising to 2m plat, (plat is still basically useless) I lost while I was at work. Sad times.

More 3BC grinding to come I suppose. Maybe I'll keep track of my total runs with/without the rare spawning, as well as how many chests need to be opened until I get it.... if DDO is still around by then.

I feel bad... friend joined me to help me farm.. we had to run the island 8 times before the rare encounter showed.. but we both got the dagger... and he passed his. Then a week later someone was selling a pair on the Plat exchange for 200k each...
