That's interesting. I couldn't get DDO to run very well on mint, and overall, didn't like mint very much.
PlayOnLinux is key, the default Wine with Mint is hot steaming crap, PoL lets you use a newer version with little effort.
It depends on what you want to do with it, Mint's a decent consumer grade distro but you're not going to get the performance you would out of a techier distro.
but try Play on Linux on whatever distro you like, use a newer Wine version, and give it a spin. It's way easier than trying to compile from source a newer wine for just about any distro, you could be up and running in half an hour, and and if it sucks, no big deal.
And like I said, mine's a pretty beefy rig, so maybe it won't run well for everyone. I'm just saying what I use and that I'm happy with it.
