I got the itch to play between hardcore 2 and 3.  Logged into the motherboards, saw nothing but posts complaining about the lag and that pretty much killed that itch.

Downloaded Rimword instead.  I personally thought it lived up to most of the hype.

Lag is because the idiots at SSG/Turdbine keep adding shit on top of the base code.  There are so many server checks and callbacks that we're actually lucky to only have the level of lag we have and not more.

There's also a fairly solid magic mod in fairly D&D-esque flavor called Rimworld of Magic.

And finally there's actually a set of Forgotten Realms race mods if you want to fill your DDO itch in Rimworld.
