I haven't played in about 5 to 6 years.  Been recently thinking about making a return(quarantine/lockdown boredom).  I kinda lost interest after they fixed the duping loophole with the card cruncher.  My characters would have to get completionist again since multiple new classes.  I never did any racial TR it didnt exist at that time and my capped characters are at 28 so i would have to get them to 30.  Is it worth it?  Would i get bored again.  I think the best DPS when i stopped was Rogue Great Crossbow builds that probably have since been nerfed.  I know washbuckler single-handed was great too.  Warlock was good but they nerfed that pretty hard right when i quit. I'd probably need help with a build since i never did any reaper too.  I'm guessing with all the new content getting to 20 is even easier than before so i could reincarnate 30 times to get those racial past lifes.

I returned after a 4 year hiatus. I will say the new content is very well done, Ravenloft especially. That wilderness area is by far my favorite in the game.

Getting to 20 is very easy now. I am in the middle of going for racial completionist (without using stones), and I skip a good 1/4 of the quests on the way up (I don't even touch any of Necro or Vale).

All in all, its still a fun game. Reaper adds a level of difficulty to the game that changes your playstyle, especially if you want the higher end reapers. New raids are challenging and even the legendary versions of the old raids are fun (I still haven't wrapped my head around Legendary Green Steel).

All in all, it was worth coming back for me. Might as well install it and give it a go, even for a bit of nostalgia.

And in case you are wondering... yeas, Kolbolds still hate you.

Do you want to spend money on the game? You will need to buy the ravenloft/sharn expansions. You can't really do stuff at cap without the powercreep gear and set bonuses from there and the quests fill in xp gaps at level 10-12, and 15-16.

When I had the same question 6 months back, Carpone told me to get VIP for a month and try out reaper mode. After 6 months I am still here - reaper mode is fantastic with random reaper spawns and different reapers to fight. I am going to start TR train soon once I get wings (reward for 75 reaper points).
So yeah, get a VIP, buy sharn and ravenloft xpac & try reaper mode. Oh and THF melees are strong atm, finally!  Smiley

Do it.  Try out reaper and maybe find an up to date build and do a TR before you commit to buying the expansions.

Between Hardcore server starting and the free content ending you are coming in after a huge climax of server populations so things are a bit slow right now.  But it may not seem that way as you are coming in brand new again.  Leveling to 30 is very easy, especially if you are on these forums....  Tr easy too for the same reason.  Hardest thing you will have to do is pick a class/spec and try to find the most relevant spec (which is currently the hardest hardest part).  I came back in March after stopping in 09.  Been having fun.
