Quote:
Just ran a quest and had a few champ mobs labeled "Scourge of the Snowpeaks". Upon killing they drop a chest:

Which can drop Bronze, Silver, and probably Gold Snowpeak Coins with an additional chance to drop a Frozen Key.

Is this supposed to be in-game?

More pictures:

Is it gonna be the new winter event ? Will it replace any of existing ones ?

From previous events we can deduce the following:

*everything will be rare, but with higher chances on higher difficulties to better shut-out new and casual players
*keys will be inanely rare and the only ingredient that mattes
*the coins will be so common they will form an inventory-tax
*as initially released the event will be glitchy as hell
*the loot will suck.

I miss anything?

I think that the Ice Games are cute and I'm glad they're around even though I don't do much with them.

If they introduce a winter themed Mabar/Night Revels type event, I'll be very happy. At worst, we can ignore the event, so I don't knw what noamineo is bitching about.

Not bitching, just speculating. I'll likely end up ignoring the event just like I ignore most of them. Am I supposed to not engage in idol conversation because someone who is clearly not popejubal might mistake it for bitching?

Yeah a Winter Mabar... because Festivult ( with the coins ) and winter games ( with the ice skating race in Eveningstar and the jump fest in the Harbor ) are so old...

( Warning : Sarcasm dripping. )

Fuck no! More fucking coins for rather useless loot.
Tons of grind or you gotta pay to circumvent it...

ps.: I do like the ice skating in Estar it is a cool minigame and I do it just for fun.

I actually played Estar winter thing for the first time last year and enjoyed it. Not enough to spend money, but it was a fun little event. Of course I never got close to enough matts to do anything, but thats SSG for you.

not a problem got TPs well DOO Points to waste. What bother me is that it's going to be BtC like any store bought container.
( got burned by a gargantuan cookie jar... I hopped I could move it form character to character only to discover it was BtC once bought. since then that character is the Cookie Hoarder.  )

Forgot about that. And FUCKING HATE IT. I end up using the in-game acquired bags much more for the simple expedient that I can fucking put them in shared bank.

The speculation is this new event is going to displace the Festivult event so no more coins. No more coins means no more cookies, in my mind.

Replacing the Risia event makes more sense.

Not a leak per say but here's the word from the +1 neckbeard:

https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/520233-Festivult-Has-Arrived!#post6384...

tl:dr Risia Ice Games and Midwinter Festival are going bye-bye(this will be the last year) while fucking festivult is sticking around.

Kinda bummed. I couldn't give less of a fuck about Festivult but I actually liked the Midwinter Festival. Better use up my ings and enjoy it one last time.
