Reaper Melee Racial TR (Read 4569 times)

	I don't have a specific build yet, but I'm looking at switching to melee for some Racial PL's. I'm not used to the play style as I've been playing Alchemist for my Racials since it came out, and before that Inquisitive. Can anyone discuss their methods for surviving Reaper as a melee? How do they build to survive and what are some dos and donts?

	Some sort of barbearian split is another good option. The theme is this: tanky thf aoe death + some heals.

	"some heals"...in Reaper? I wouldn't build for just "some heals" on a melee for Reaper, especially in the midst of combat. Either go full-retard heals with some melee ability or go full melee and make sure you have a good healer in the party.

The higher the skulls, the more your advice is true. But, an assimar barb with blood tribute can Do pretty well in low skulls 1-20, I think. Better yet, Use a hire to top up between packs as-needed. But, if you're doing 5+ skulls, a couple of party members would help. My assumption is that if he's talking about racials, that speed matters which means lower skulls.

	Main (or at least secondary) stat Wisdom. Go Aasimar for fullheal LoH on R1. Put 26+ points in Falconry for DI and helpless damage. Falcon attacks cause helplessness, but take Stunning Blow/Fist as well. Works great not just for pally and barb, but also tempest, wrap monk, THF fighter, etc.

	I like stick builds with super high run speed for melee TRs but it mostly depends what weapons you have available

	i've liked 12/6/2 rog/drd/brb for stick. 6 for extra shillelagh, 12 for all the goodies in rogue, 2 for blood tribute and runfast. played the build with greater color spray pre-nerf and it was a blast, it's worse now but not by a ton. ele bloom is better than sos with the extra 2[w] as well.

	You can do a strength build wizard. 6 AP into Eldritch Knight gives you ghost touch and extra damage per swing. Wizard gives buffs (nightshield, blur, prot from evil, displacement, etc), utility (knock, invis, DDoor), and combined with 11 AP in pale master a healing aura and negative energy burst. By level 7 you have enough maintenance healing to pretty easily do R1 quickly and efficiently. Do a standard melee feat progression, level ups into strength, craft nullification / neg hamp gloves as you level up, run Silent Avenger and Part of the Family sets, forget about nukes or spells that have a DC, just focus on buffs, utility, and nullification / neg amp for self heals. 1-20 on easy mode. Shoot for 41 pale master, 39 EK with Tier 5 out of EK by 20.
