Not sure it's set in stone yet but my understanding of it was you can get them just the same you just don't need to worry about ED karma any longer because it won't exist.

New system:

1 Fate Point per 3 EPL.
1 Destiny Point for every 3 Fate Points
1 Epic Completionist feat for every 12 EPLs
1 Destiny Point for every Epic Completionist feat

It's Destiny Points that you spend in the new ED trees.

If you have 48 EPLs and at least a +2 Tome of Fate you'll get an extra 10 DPs to
spend at L20.  11 if you also have the Tome of Destiny from the Feywild top pack.

EPLs, so far, are unchanged.

Basically EDs are going to work like skill trees. You will be allowed to choose 3 of them(any 3, they are also doing away with spheres entirely) and spend points in them.

While this does end up being more limiting than the twist-system(which allowed you to grab useful low-hanging fruit from everywhere) it might actually end up working better since instead of just twisting out 1 thing from another tree you get access to everything on it that you've spent points for(I can think of a few handy uses).

Of course all that is only useful at level 30. The way the EDs are structured EVERYTHING is back-loaded(EG in the higher tiers) which means all the power is now level-gated. EDs will be practically useless before max level.

Imagine it this way: imagine if you could only play with twists and didn't have your "active" destiny. Thats what the game will be like following this update.

Yes thank you for clarifying. It will make it easier for them to sell us new destinies. Probably as part of another "mini expansion".

I figured they might try and sell +max trees given there's an underwhelming three right now.
