DDO vs. Candy Crush Saga: A Comparison

Levels-

CCS: 5,000+ "stages" or levels

DDO: A lot of different ways you can count this, but 3,220 levels is a pretty good estimate.

Conclusion: Similar

Community Interaction-

CCS: can donate "lives" to other players, has leaderboards

DDO: can carry other players through content, as leaderboards(HCL only)

Conclusion: Similar

Paid Content-

CCS: can purchase "gold" to buy extra moves, additional power-ups and make clearing levels trivial

DDO: Ottos Boxes of every shape and size.

Conclusion: Similar

Player Base:

CCS: generally played on the toilet.

DDO: general players act like toilets.

Conclusion: Similar

Dungeons and Dragons Online = Candy Crush Saga.

They are basically the same thing.

Just for the record, I bought ten stones from Dragonborn a few days back. Fair and civil trade which went smoothly

Lol, sounds about right. Candy Crush doesn't even make every level 100% unique, after a while you're playing the same few stages over and over again... much like DDO...

Meh, I'd argue that DDO at its core is a much better and more varied game than Candy Crush.

That said, you're absolutely right when it comes to the monetization model. Over the years, Turbine/SSG have introduced way too many P2W stuff. It seems to be part and parcel of every MMO these days unfortunately. One reason I've gravitated away from these games and spend more time on single-player games and other hobbies instead.

Why couldn't this have been a "DOOM vs Candy Crush Saga: A Comparison" thread?

It was a warm summer morning when Scrotie McBoogerballs awoke to find his wart covered penis sitting in stale fetid diarrhea that had pooled up in his underwear overnight.

Because this is the "DDO-Specific Discussion" subsection of the forum, and I don't want to make Strake work.

business is a cycle

* |:
*some people doin what comes naturally to them
*non humans who cannot relate observe new pervasive trend
*a millon dollars is spent to design a way to sell what some people were enjoying, to many others who werent
*the version they sell cannot be monetized without some drastic change to the original concept
*the changes make the concept unpalatable to the original group of people
*the non humans are unable to comprehend or relate to the souring of the milk
*a few million dollars is spent by other people who think their experience will mirror the experience of the original group
*they slowly figure out why the changes by non humans drove away the original practitioners of whatever is now being marketed
*it doesnt matter cause the non humans already made back more than they put out
*the non humans leave a bloody raped carcass of an enjoyable concept laying in the aisle at walmart
*other non humans praise the skills of these non humans for extracting more money than spent, from working people via bait and switch
*other non humans attempt to bribe the bait and switchers into creating bait and switches under their own banner so they too can have a quick return on a seperate million dollar project based on a new trend people seem to enjoy
* :|

I had a conversation with dragonborn this morning(which is what I call taking a big ol' shit, because its exactly the same experience) and came up with a few more:

Advancement-

CCS: entirely luck-based, no actual skill involved(though money can dramatically speed up your rate of advancement); most levels come down to "play it enough times that you get lucky".

DDO: entirely grind-based. While its hard to wipe a party, advancement largely comes down to repeating the same dungeons.

Conclusion: Similar

Difficulty Curve-

CCS: some levels so poorly designed it takes hundreds or even thousands of attempts to advance, potentially stranding players indefinitely unless they open their wallets.

DDO: frequent lag spikes can turn even the easiest dungeon crawl into a TPK.

Conclusion: Similar

Attaining items

CCS: daily "spins", fancy candies, and clearing every six levels provide rewards, allowing every useful powerup(and even very limited quantities of in-game premium cash) to be obtained for free with enough patience.

DDO: bugged drop rates and massive grind walls.

Conclusion: Similar.

Candy Crush Saga = Dungeons and Dragons Online.

They are nearly identical.
