Look like they are going to let us keep tomes on TR. That doesn't seem right to me.

TR is TR. You die. You are a whole new character. Most times a new race and class. It doesn't make sense that you would keep a magical enhancement from reading a tome across a TR.

Sure it does.  It's magic.  The new character obviously has a magical connection to the old one already.  Making that connection a little different is no big deal.  Your complaint is a lore one, and all lore is mutable.  And in fact, the 3.5 Reincarnation spell does preserve tome bonuses.

But in terms of game mechanics, it makes for a better game, in my opinion.  Destroying hard-won gear is simply not fun.  The Devs learned that lesson a long time ago; that's why they removed permanent damage from bound gear.  With this change, people will be more free to play the game as they want to, without fear of losing their stuff.  Get a tome?  Go ahead and actually use the dang thing.  You've earned it.  Decide you feel like TRing?  Go ahead.  You're not going to lose your stuff.

I don't see what benefit losing tomes on TR gives to the game.

I've always thought that the best compromise is to not destroy +3/+4 tomes after reading.  That way you still have to read them, still have to worry about +1 or +2 tomes at earlier levels in a TR, have to make space for them in your character bank, etc.  I think the little bits of pain in the ass with such a plan are worth it.

the thing about this though, it actually will BENEFIT the game.  There are enough old people here to remember when you could roll on a +3 tome in Reaver because the peeps in there already had that +3 Int tome on this build and didn't need it....  When TR came, I have personally seen fewer people offer up tomes (though I am still usually a use it now or pass it guy) because they want to save it for a TR. 

This will mean that Tomes get less usefull for the hardcore crowd so more tomes for the newbs which hopefull can help them compensate for the 28pt dual scimitar ranger drow build that worked great in PnP!
