So, just in case somebody should come to the idea to make a post for Memorial Day actually AT Memorial Day (the 27th, I think), Leslie decided to post it today and get his greenies:

I don't mind being thanked for my service, except by people who like to make  a show of it.  Take leslie for example, a perfect example.

The thank yous I appreciate or typically just a handshake and a small thanks.  Or when I am at a restaurant and the waiter says the bill is covered.  I look around and noone is staring at me or trying to say, "Oh it was me!"  That I don't mind, but the big attention grabbers going, "I thank my military, look at me and how cool I am because I love their sacrifice" really irritates the shit out of me.  People like that should be shot.

I am proud I served; but I don't take the compliments well.  I have many friends and family who served longer, with more distinction, and gave more for their country than I did.  If you want to do something special for a vet, do something for them & I will help you, I appreciate it but feel it not necessary for me.
