How do you do that?

Timing on this really could not have been better for me personally; I was almost-sort-of missing DDO after my my 5 month vacation to cool off after the "Oops we really fucked up; so lets just break FvS to cover it up, save our asses and more importantly; not need ot fix anything" screwjob.

I actually tried to log into the forums to see what was new; and found the sites down.

So I am actually glad the staff at DDO was kind enough to remind me what total, complete useless fuck-tards they all are; and now I can contently go back to playing "The Forgotten World" beta without the temptation to spend one more red cent on DDO.

Thanks Turbine!

I went and played Skyrim for awhile upon noticing the problem and laughing about it.  This evening, our static TR group was able to log on and meet up.  I have two versions of the client on my pc.  One kept doing this stupid loop, then error, then restart thing.  I did a dns flush and it worked out just fine.

If you are still having trouble, and didn't change your hosts around...  You can hit 'start' and type cmd into the search in that area.  right click on it when it comes up and select 'Run as Administrator.'  Once it opens a DOS window for you type the following, " ipconfig /flushdns'

Should work just fine since things have been reset.  Might save some waiting time as well...

Bro, I am retarded when it comes to tech stuff. But I followed the link and plugged in the stuff and was able to log in. After I was in (and I made a copy of the hosts file) I went back and deleted what I entered.

That way you are in, can play, surf boards, but doesn't interfere with your ISP when it decides to update. Hope that helps.

Followed all the steps - still no luck.

Using two workarounds (the host change and the DNS change, but I am not using google) there is no problem to connect. As changing the host may be a problem later, I decided to use the public DNS. But in the moment I change to automatic, again I cannot connect.
I wonder when my provider (or whoever responsible) will notice.
In Spain they are connecting without problems.

I would guess there are thousands of non-forum posters that feel the same way.  Imagine the frustration of the players that just assume the servers are down and never bother to look up work-arounds... and during a 30% xp event to boot. DDO was struggling before this happened.   Undecided

I even tried using the open DNS as linked here, still doesn't work for me.

I think these guys at DDO got to engrossed in their expansion and forgot about some more important things.

This is fucked.

You still having issues? If so, you have a poor provider as this should have aged out by now.

It could be you are using DHCP and your router needs to have the DNS set to something else (probably doesn't need to be flushed as they should have aged out a long time ago).

ipconfig /all
will let you know if you are using DHCP and what DNS servers you client is using.

Yeah I live in New Zealand, poor providers are what we are famous for.

Well that and fucking sheep.

I just checked ipconfig/all

Shows my DNS servers as those detailed in Open DNS but shows my DHCP as something different

Launcher launches then get:
Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=UTF-8' but expected 'text/xml'.
The request failed with the error message:
<framesetrows= '100%,*"frameborder="no"
border="0"framespacing="0">
<framesrc="http://gls.ddo.com/?
The a big line of random lettering/numbers.

I'm not real computer savvy so I'm unsure what this shit means.

Acutally, I do know - I was in Queenstown five years ago and I thought I was back in the stone age (well, comparable to Cairns in Australia for DDO playability  Wink).

At the cmd prompt, you can type
nslookup

it should show your default DNS server. Type in the addresses (e.g. forums.ddo.com) and it should come back with the IP. If it is the opendns server and still not working, your provider is hijacking your DNS requests and doing it themselves (some providers do that to save bandwidth).

I am totally the expert. That is why I have uninstalled firefox while screaming obscenities and wowing to join a terrorist group.

I had that link from the DDO forums, that I could visit after the workaround with the host.

I guess I could start my Velcro Gloves Business there.  Sold out of inventory my first week in Wales.  Smiley

But seriously,  Just wanted to thank you guys for what seems to be at this point a plausable solution.  Like many, I uninstalled, reinstalled, cussed and cursed to no avail.  Even tried their "solution" listed on their Turbine Support FAQs to no avail.  In the end, it did give me time this weekend to pull the partition on my computer and start a complete rebuild.  What a hassle...

In my time in the military, if one of my guys in the squad FUBARed like this, they would be digging shitters for a year.  Thank Christ Turbine isn't in charge of supply requisition for our troops on the front line.  But anyhow, once the game updates finish reloading, I look forward to seeing you good peeps out and about...

Be safe!

Did you figure it out? Probably easiest to do it through your router, the menus will be different based on the model as will the address to access your router.

192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 are the most common ones that I'm aware of...whatever gateway address is listed by your computer.
