i'll also add I'd stick around DDO for the people too but even that isn't so easy anymore. lot less people logging on lately, besides the long slow decline for the last 4 years from the hey day.

With shorter attention spans, more options, and publishers being bigger and bigger dicks; I think the future is all about multi-game guilds.  Everyone stays together and hand out in Voice chat but can move from game to game as their tastes dictate.

That's a great observation, I wonder how services like Steam will fit into that future? My guild uses Skype (to do exactly what you describe), but as we consider more games we've been wondering if we should use Steam to manage them.

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

I'm not a big fan of cartoony, either, but the gameplay makes it worth it. Active combat like DDO - much more active, in fact. A really cool CC-breaking mechanism. Paths that are independent of your class (done quite well, IMO).

The beginner levels are stupid easy and feel like SWTOR does from 1-cap. The dungeons and raids appear pretty badass, from everything I've been able to watch and read.

I've preordered and cannot wait for head start to begin. I hope it doesn't go all Neverwinter on me - blow me away at first only to disappoint the shit out of me later. From what I've seen of the group content, that probably won't be a problem.

A bunch of us are playing on Olyssia.  I really enjoy the game.

We are branching our SWTOR guild to Wildstar.

http://ascendant-wildstar.enjin.com

It definitely gets better the higher you get if you don't play past 20 you really haven't even seen the game.

This is what I can't wait for...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbItL4qcugk#t=231

...and the keep it hard attitude.

From what I'm hearing (which has not been verified as factual), Olyssia will not be a server name at launch/head start.  Please post the server your guild ends up going with.

I usually start new games in guilds with RL friends, but it looks like only one of the gang will be joining WS, so we'd like to start out on a server that has a guild we have an "in" with.

To give you a chance for vengeance. Wink

We saw the new server list the other night.  We are in the process of voting but it looks like Stormtalon is winning.  The poll is on our guild site...

It's a good game.  It's got a lot going for it and the Dev seem to really have a vision and the modesty to say we f'd up and explain why and how it won't happen again.

How do you deal with factions? Is the whole guild one faction? Two guilds?

Is cross-faction guilding/raiding even possible?

In SWTOR, we eventually hooked up with a sister guild on the Pub side.  We will be Dominion so I assume once we get settled we will do the same.  We organized PvP events and such with our sister guild as well.

I've been playing for six or seven months.  The dungeons are a blast.
The 20 man raid had 3 or 4 months of testing in beta, and we never defeated the final boss.  No one did.  Four months of raid testing and not one successful completion by anyone.
The 40 man raid was only available for testing by invitation, and our guild wasn't "big name" enough to get one.
The group content is no joke, and it's where the game really fucking shines.

Looks like they're having a hell of a tough time with the launch of head start. DDoS attacks and lots of other issues to boot. Funny, it was so smooth in open beta. Poor techs are probably having a shitty day.

I managed to get online for 10 min before all servers and their website went down. Smiley

They took them all offline to fix some of the issues with a hotfix.  The downtime was scheduled to be around 15 minutes or so, but I was at work so I have no clue how long it really lasted or what got fixed exactly.  Just got home.
Many of the login issues and queues are simply because too many fucking people are all trying to log into the same three servers.  If people would just pick a different server.... they'd have ZERO issues.  Two day queues on three servers, instant login for the rest.

It was about 25 min. Not bad at all.

I was dropped 4 times throughout the night and had trouble logging back in each time. Once I was online, things were rock solid.

Wow, explorer path is SO much more interesting than scientist. Instead of closing text boxes I never read, I get to go explore things!

Be forewarned, Explorer is not group friendly.  The Soldier gives more things to kill as you go, the Scientist scans and opens doors as you go, the Settler builds things as you go.
The Explorer is like "Hey guys, while you're all doing stuff on the way to where were're going, I need to run halfway across the fucking map for this next part here.  I'll see you in fifteen miniutes after I find it."
It's the most fun for me as well, but when you're running with others it's a pain in the ass.  My suggestion if you're in a group with friends is to grab what you can as you go and ignore the rest until you're solo, then go back for the stuff you missed.

I've found it fun as fuck so far.

Dungeons are pretty top notch, I like the PVP as well. I have found leveling and gearing via pvp faster than questing.

Housing, the little I have messed with, is pretty well done also.

This game has a lot more depth than first meets the eye. I'm very impressed so far, and that says quite a bit. It really breaks the MMO mold while still somehow remaining true to it.

Last night I was firing lasers at gnat-like robots buzzing around the head of a HUGE - like 20x WF Titan huge - robot. Then I was on a scavenger hunt, using a locator beacon. Then I was skydyving from the top of a mountain. Then running like sonic the hedgehog from one end of the zone to the other. All the while, fighting mobs, teaming up with random nearby people, and discovering new aspects to the game.

Fun stuff.

I leveled 1 toon to 20 the first day, the started new with a buddy. I'd say the first 5-6 levels are pretty similar across most characters and goes fast. But after that it opens up can start doing more path missions, PVP ques, different towns etc.

DDO comparison, it's like having to do a shorter korthos every character for about 30 minutes (meh) but past that there are a myriad of possibilities and ways to gain xp.

From what little I saw of the game in vid and whatnot about a year and a half ago I wasn't interested at all.
As soon as I actually got my hands on it in closed beta, I was immediately hooked.  It's a HELL of a lot better than I thought it was going to be.  I've been paying every chance I got over the past 6-7 months.

just remember, the majority of hacks and exploits from gw2 work in wildstar. In fact, it is much easier to exploit in wildstar then any other game other then DDO ofc. I have a mod that loads up infinite jump/dodge/speed/attack/radar/ect. Strangely enough, I was pointed to the mod from a fucking dev. I am currently trying to use a variant in GW2 since it is the same fucking game.
