Anyone else having log in issues?

My launcher stalls at "Installing Pre-reqs".

I was on earlier today without problem.

From post 79 in the forum:

"Just talked to game support. They are aware, they are under fire!
Fix is being fixed but advice was try 'n log in every 15 mins or so and see how it's doing. The relevant kobolds have been stirred from their caves, etc.
However, when I said it's middle of the night here, the suggestion to go sleep for a few hours and come back to a repair. No ETA available but that really does seem cos no ETA available. "

Looks like some issue with the login stuff. People in-game are unaffected as long as they don't quit the game. As far as I can see, it's nothing on your end causing the issues.

So, basically im screwed until they fix it lol. I'm so glad I pay good money for this game. I mean its not like there are very many bugs, no issues with lag and everything always runs so smoothly lol #sarcasm

according to the traceroutes I've seen on the official forums it seems to be a loadbalancer or the GLS ( authentication ) server that went belly up.

The weird thing ( if it's the GLS server ) is that it seems to work for the webserver....

That's why I suspect more a loadbalancer or another Notwork equipment.

Funny, the Company that manages the update files (Pando), allegedly shuttered its doors yesterday. That's just according to their Wikipedia page as of ~12AM.

If true it could make it "difficult" for those who downloaded the installer directly.

Are people running DDO through Steam having the same problem? I'm not sure that Steam uses Pando.

Your computer is not your Friend.

Go into C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

edit hosts

Get rid of all the lines that are not commented out ( or comment them )

From the Wikipedia page in question...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pando_(application)

"Pando shut down its servers and ceased business on August 31, 2013. Pando is mainly aimed at sending files using both peer-to-peer and client–server architectures that would normally be too large to send via more conventional means.[1] Stable release: win 2.5.1.11, mac 2.5.1.4"

HOWEVER, the Pandonetworks page says they were acquired by Microsoft this year. So... take it for what it's worth from some guy in the interwebs with 3 posts on the forum.

BUT I have seen people post here (Maj) that might be able to use the info if it is relevant.

That was directed at Flav. (and a reference to Paranoia). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paranoia_rpg

I thought Pando only handled the download of the game, not updating.

If Pando is really gone, Turbine would have to go with an alternative... like I don't know A SIMPLE TORRENT FILE.

LOL yeah, that would have been preferable. But now they'd still need to bundle that BT client into the initial install. Because nothing currently installed would update... kinda what's happening right now.

I certainly HOPE that the Steam version of the install works. I'm doing that now, but it's at about 53% and won't complete the 8GB DL for a couple of hours.

I don't know much about Pando. I doesn't appear to be a real BT-like (decentralized) client.
