Ban Extensions?

Print Post
Just got this nice little email from Turbine at 10:47 EST tonight...

Greetings,

This communication has been sent to notify you of an update to the status of your DDO account.  The ban on your account is being extended by two weeks as we continue to clean characters found to be involved in the use of an item exploit.  We will contact you again at the email on file on your account if there are any additional updates.

Turbine In Game Support

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL AS THIS MAILBOX IS NOT MONITORED FOR RESPONSES.

Anyone else get hit with it or am I just lucky?

Turbine obviously felt that they were not hemorrhaging customers rapidly enough, and extended and ramped up the level of overkill in their response to an irrelevant exploit.

Better find a new game now, before they feel forced to take further action.

Note to any Turbine staffers reading this, and one I genuinely hope you share around the office: DDO has become a shit game because y'all have made it a shit game. Once it was great. Now, it's a festering puddle of monkey diarrhea. No matter how you try to justify it, or pat yourselves on the back for doing great jobs... it's a shit game now because of you. Y'all keep on giving the players the middle finger, and you keep expecting us to reward you for the abuse. I've had it with you narcissistic fuckwads and your myopic policies of ineptitude.

"Cunty" is the best word to describe these actions.

4 week bans might as well be permanent as after that point their days spending money on Turbine products is done.

They've got a lot of nerve considering they were warned about the buyback possibility shortly after the bans started.

Sounds like the sheer number of toons caught in this may be too much for them to deal with in any reasonable amount of time.

I'm wondering if they even logged in on your toons in the two-week period prior, Dashyn. Any word from your guildies on that?

All of my toons were accessed today for literally 4-5 seconds. They all popped on at the same time then right back off. Prior to this they hadn't been on in 1 week 6 days...

I assume since it was such a short amount of time they were scanning for something. The other person who is banned in my guild hasn't had their toons accessed at all.

Ugh. This and the Reincarnation fiasco combined are going to be what kills this game. If numbers on the official forums are to be believed, at least 76 unsubscriptions on one server over the ban extensions, and Goddess knows how many on top of that over U20. How many subs can they afford to lose like this?

Nice knowing you, DDO.

Nope. I know some folks on Khyber who got the same email.

Dashyn is on Sarlona, yes.

I am on Sarlona as well and have not received a ban extension email. Presumably because they spent a couple hours cleaning out my chars last week and over the weekend.

Distributed hit this one right on the nose...guess all the overtime they're paying these guys hasn't been enough  Roll Eyes

Already warned a banned guildie who hasn't had his characters worn yet (as of yesterday) to keep an eye on his email for an extension. Two other accounts full of characters /were/ worn, waiting to see if they come back tomorrow or if they get extended too.

Guess that means buyback won't be available for the next 3-4 weeks. Wonder how that's gonna go over with the non-dupers?  Grin

Gotta love scorched earth. Those sanctimonious bastards are laughing now, I hope they keep laughing when Turbine burns them in this with the closed buyback thing.

Huh.  That sucks.  It's not like they are doing a really careful, or surgical job of cleaning up duping.  It shouldn't take long to gut the banned folks accounts...

Got a report today from someone on Orien that returned from vacation.  Bag contents themselves were not emptied.  The whole bags themselves were thrown out.  Also raid gear.  Arguably, it was comm upgraded raid gear.  But rather than downgrading it, they just threw all of it out.

it's quite clear what is happening. turbine timed the time to mop up a character, multiplied it by the number of characters and came up with 2 weeks to mop up

then the GM's got stuck in to the char swapping and promptly hit the crippling lag that is the memory leak on character swap

What ProducerRowan should say to Glin, Varg, and Eladrin. It's been overdone to death, but I've always wanted to do one of these.
