Layoff impact on DDO game time/spending

Just curious what everybody is thinking.  I, personally will still play the game, as I enjoy it, but am worried about the long term potential for new content with reduced dev staffing.  I don't really want any new systems, but new content is a key for me.

Added option for "was already not spending but playing game".  You are correct.  I didn't give an option for folks who were playing without spending currently.

I'd hate to be a debby downer, but i dont feel like they can change the course. I too would love new content over more systems. New content is exciting and it's about the only time i can manage to get all my friends into the same quests at once ;p

Playing, not spending.
Premium with basically everything, enough TP for cosmetics and whatnot by TRing.
Enough shards by selling shit on asah.
But still trade stuff / plat for TP if such rare trade pops up.

I am with you here. I will probably spend the TPs I have on Haunted Halls and then wait and see. Doubt I will buy any big points packages since all I am interested in really is content. Maybe a cool new race, possibly, although I haven't shelled out for any iconics (got PDK and Bladeforged with Shadowfail).

I don't spend money on frills and consumables really, so am not sure what will keep me spending if it lacks content. I am just crossing my fingers they take it to a stable platform then keep pushing out content packs. We shall see.

i'll continue to pay for my VIP sub and play regularly, and occasionally pay for TP.

I find this game fun, and until I start hating it (not for a while yet) or until they close the doors I shall keep playing.

That's because 90% of the polls are trash, jokes, trolls, or all 3 at once.  If you offer donuts and/or fuck you, it leads to allowing multiple responses (Which makes the poll pointless) or it gives people a "non-answer" answer, which is also pointless.

If you don't like any of the choices, just don't answer the poll and post a comment for "donuts" or "fuck you" or "fuck you while eating a donut".  Whatever.

Pretty much this for me too. I've been on a break for half a year, but with the intent of returning when they finished up some of the half baked systems. I don't enjoy re-learning what I had previously learned. New systems aren't a zero value added for me, they are a negative value.

But even while not playing, I've given Turbine money, albeit less money, to keep me and my family counted as active paying customers. I didn't mind if I was building up TP I wasn't using, I figured they don't go bad and I'll spend them eventually when they come out with better adventure packs or whatever.

Now I worry that there won't be new and better adventure packs to spend my TP on.

The layoffs have caused me to doubt Turbine's ability to produce the product I value most, new content, and as a direct result my spending will go down further.

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

I haven't really played much in the last 3 months. I'll probably pop in to give U21 a whirl, but considering the layoffs I don't expect to ever spend more money on DDO.

I will continue playing, but I have reservations about future spending.
My main concern is that they still plan to deliver the suggested content in 2014, but with a lot less resources.
This means the ones left standing will get flogged, and I suspect quality will take a bigger hit.
Timelines are going to get compressed and there are less people to do testing - something has to give.

Unfortunately, the one thing Turbine cannot afford is releasing even more buggy content.  There are some serious bugs in the game now - who is going to address these with only 4 devs and 2 software engineers left?
Maybe Glin and Rowan are going to roll up their sleeves and get into it......
Strange - didn't hear too much about mgmt getting laid off (1 LOTRO producer?).
I guess you can never have too many managers, so get rid of those costly peons.  Undecided

Exactly the same situation for me (regarding both play time & spending).

Sigh, can we start a sub-forum where the 12-15 year old boys can practise their swear words and pretend to be macho and crap?

If you can't manage more than 4 letter words, go finish junior school.

Oh here's a smart one...manages 5 letters in one word, but i suspect he would struggle if born outside the US and had to spell it Doughnut....
"Go eat dick thrust in a round pastry fried in hot oil and rolled in sugar" doesn't have the same effect?

You don't need to buy anything when you can sell EE items for tons of TP.

Haven't spent a single cent since this was put in place. Endgame items for TP FTW!

I was/am a bit of a whale, not ashamed to admit it. I've shelled out for full supreme +5s on a couple of characters, and bought, yes actually bought a couple of boxes. I bought an annual VIP sub about the time Shadowfail came out *doh* I have enjoyed the game on and off since about 2008, and will continue to play my high investment toons for the forseeable future on a relatively casual basis. I'm an affluent professional with plenty of spare cash lying around, I won't be spending any more of it on Turbine. VIP sub is already cancelled, and I won't buy another "expansion". Content, content and more content is all I'm interested in. If I don't get it, I will simply do what I have done multiple times before: take a break for a year or so and come back once enough content has built up to keep me interested for a couple of months. If that content never comes, I will not be back, and neither will my money. Turbine, heed the song of the whale.
