In DDO I like my palemaster for caster type and played pally for a long time, for melee not sure to go thf twf or archer type..... I'm sure there must be some crazy OP builds out there lol
There so many classes in this game its a little daunting starting from scratch lol
Edit: bwahaha while I was googling some classes and replying here some female char in game started checking me out lol came back to hearts floating and poping above our heads lmao.
For melee, seems darkrunner (battlerage/shadowplay/auramancy), blighter (battlerage/shadowplay/defence) and shadowblade (battlerage/shadowplay/witchcraft) are considered FOTM builds.
1st has better mobility and cc breaks, 2nd more defence (obviously), some limited self heals (long cd, need to charge mettle by being damaged), 3rd has cc and some limited heals (low cd but small to insignificant amounts, also the play dead thingie).
Vitalism is kind of a trap on a melee, since heals from there scale with heal power, and you get that only on clubs/greatclubs (so you will lack melee power if you equip one of those)
For caster - sorcery/witchcraft/auramancy, sorcery/witchcraft/occultism, sorcery/witchcraft/shadowplay etc.
Archery is easier to pair with smth else, since bow is in separate slot, so you can just equip the type of melee weapon you need (and it still provides the magic/healing power while staying on your back)
That's actually forum reading + theory crafting, since I got to 23 or smth, and just played the first instanced dungeon, so not much playing experience.
