Hi folks,

I find like most of us that grind for managing inventory is a real PITA and I am at a point with several characters where many of the old school epic items which I ground for for a long time and that I admit I rarely use are just choke points in my TR cache etc. I have a lot of items that I want to keep more as bragging rights than to use really since they took a LONG time to get. I just can't seem to bring myself to throw that stuff out so I am looking for a solution.

I have seen from other people items like the Epic Ring of Spell Storing, Epic Sword of Shadows reduced to a "Essence of XXXX" that actually fits within an ingredient bag.

So my question is just how do I make an item into such an essence? I looked at wiki and it appears that the widespread use was many many updates ago and it may only be functional with exclusive items now but I thought I would ask  you all if there is still a method of creating these in the interest of managing space Cheesy

As I recall, this was done as the way of clearing out the old epic augment slots.  You would go to the Epic altar in the twelve and, because they couldn't actually clear out the slots, they would actually delete the item and give you an essence.  Which you could recreate the item with, without anything in the slot(s). 

The essences would go into an ingredients bag until you turned them into an actual item.  If you had a bag bug going on, allegedly, you could move the BTC essence to another toon.  Not that I have any knowledge of that. 

As I recall, it did not work for all epic items.  They had to have an augment slot on them.  The bracers or gloves of the claw, for example, would not convert to essences.  I could be remembering it wrong, though.  It's been a long time. 

I don't know if it is still possible or not.  Now that they have a method for swapping augments, it is unnecessary.

It should work with any exclusive old-epic item, even if it has been updated or has no augment slots. Epic Twisted Talisman is a good example, and is bta.

There was a thread earlier this year where Ollie tested alot of items, and the other Vaulties worked out a set of rules for determining what will or won't.

hmm yeah exclusive stuff with clickies. and i guess only abbot and epic items have that. i don't remember exactly.

Im guessing either the complete noobs of which like everyone was a part of at some point (LoO) or the people on the opposite end of the spectrum in which Thaz loves to complain about (OR).

the only exceptions that i was aware of the rule (epic exclusive), was darkstorm helm which cant be converted, and big top which can.
