I was a MWO founder, but got the shits with it in 2013, then PGI bought back the rights this year.
I started playing again (account is forever) over the holidays, and I was blown away by how they are trying to take care of the community. Tons of events, give aways, patches usually every month with new content. The turn around on bug is pretty amazing. The President of PGI now posts plans regularly, and has a 'town hall' meeting at least once a month.
And they finally have a working Beta form of community warfare, where your wins counts for the conquest and defense of planets. I lost days to dropping with groups on TS3. The year 3050 just started in the game universe, so perfect timing.
I highly recommend it to anyone who like builds, and fast play.
Oh, and screw Steiner, all hail the Free Rasalhague Republic!
Thanks Grand. That is good intel.
I loved the genre and the BT game before Topps mainstreamed it.
I've been meaning to get onto MWO, but I'm not really a twitch gamer and thought I'd have to endure being endlessly tea-bagged by 12 yr olds.

Especially with the latency across the pond here. 300-400ms is a pretty big advantage to give, unless I take an artillery unit I suppose....

Also, only have time for one game, so DDO would probably have to go, which is becoming less of a sacrifice these days.
It does sound tempting to play a game with a professional development team and actual community relations. Would make a nice change!
What is the server structure like?
Are there any regional servers? Do you recommend any?
Do they have guilds/clans/house affiliations or is everyone a merc?
