Harper Enhancements vs. Dance of Death and Killer.

So I am currently running my Main-Alt through his obligatory Ranger life, a gimp-tastic Trap-Tempest build (Arty instead of Rogue, because it's more Bang for the Buck)

Perusing the bonanza of crap that is Ranger enhancements, I was debating whether or not taking the Versatile Adept I-IV wasn't better from a DPS and survivability standpoint than Killer and Dance of Death (henceforth, DoD.)

Has anyone run the numbers on this? Math is not my strong suit (I'm a musician, I only count to four) but it seems that the consistent +12 MPP/RPP/USP is better than situational boosts from Killer and the long down-times of DoD, which seems to have a very fickle AoE (used it on another toon so I have seen this first hand.)

Again, if I am killing things fast enough for Killer to proc, then the boost to DPS would be moot, and the MPP/RPP/USP is always "on" and boosts my Healing spells to boot.

Plus the Harper Tier 5 Enchant Your Weapon seems good as well:

- Always on Improved Deception, +1 Weapon Enhancement (Boom! Winning!)
- +10 Harper Bonus to USP (meh)
- Good-Aligned Weapons, stacking +3 Enhancement and +2 To hit/damage vs. Evil (Boom! More Winning! Vatican Warlock Assassin Style!)

Discuss.

tl;dr- Are Harper enhancements better than going Tier 5 Ranger Anything?

My understanding is that Dance of Death is pretty good.

i rolled my alt into a 14p 5r 1 ftr pdk. stopped using dance of death. i dont have a tier 5 in anything and most of the points are in kotc core 12, stalwart, and harper for melee/ranged power.

Dance is still very good however and i swap back into it when i go in DC. LD gives me enough cleaves that i dont have to take dance while in it.

I don't think naming names would be a good thing for me to do, but I'd pretty much add anyone who's a know-it-all dick on the list. Even if they are sometimes intelligent with their opinions, the way they state them in long, "i'm a lawyer at trial"-type posts makes me want to punch them in the face. They act like whiney babies with god complexes and then freak out if someone so much as breathes criticism in their direction.

DoD is great since they lowered the cooldown on it. I assume you're thinking of the old version. One of the best builds in the game uses it, and can be easily adapted to get a painless ranger past life. (9 Druid/9 Ranger/2 Fighter)

I'm assuming this is like Munk's Past-Life getter?

I read through it, and it's completely valid. However, I have already committed my gimp to 10 Ranger, so it's kind of moot.

Also, I didn't take any of the SWF feats, so that's borked as well, and I'm too cheap to burn my +20 Heart for it. (Saving that for the FvS/ Cleric lives)

To answer you question: I haven't used DoD since they reduced the cool down. I will give it a shot, since from what I've read above, it's now worth having.

Also, I currently have nothing on my clickie bar, so there's an excuse right there.  Grin

PS- Fuck them for making me choose between Haste or Sprint Boost. Pole-smokers.

One fighter level gets you access to haste boost in the Kensai tree.
