If he's a casual player who started crafting at a low level, that could represent a full year of breaking down everything he gets and making himself lots of useful gear along the way. I'm not sure about 50, but I know the old system had quite a few good but not great stuff under 100, and an Arcane higher than Divine or Elemental gave good results.
Never attribute to "full of shit" what can be explained by "different playstyle"
OK. But he says he created two dedicated crafters and was crafting for his guild. At his XP level, he couldn't make anything unbound over ML 3. How much guild crafting was he doing? Having 3,500 xp in each school when you get 100 xp per shard you make and 5 xp per deconstruct is not much. That's crafting maybe 20-25 shards and deconstructing maybe 100 items.
And if he invested 100 pounds, which is like 150 US Dollars, then we are talking about some spend on boosters or something. I'm not even sure how you spend that much on crafting. There isn't much to buy. He has clearly made less than 100 shards in his lifetime. Even if you used a 35% success booster on each, you have still only spent 1000 TP. Add in a few XP boosters (which are dirt cheap at like 25 TP for 30 minutes) and you can't possibly have spent more than 1500 TP total. That's like $25.
I suspect he is counting his ViP subscription in that amount. Which isn't going to get refunded. He paid for access to the game for a period of time. He logged in and used the game during that time period. Now he wants a refund? Good luck.
OK. Maybe he's not "full of shit", but he is definitely using hyperbole and overstating his time and resource investment in the crafting system. You can get to 3500 xp in each school in less than 10 hours. Easily. So he is asking for a huge refund of something he probably has invested less than 10 hours in over the course of a year or more. Something just isn't adding up.
I feel for the low level crafter. And the crafter of level 1-10 twink gear. This new system really doesn't work for them. The new system is targeted at gear for levels 20-30 vs. the old system's sweet spot from 1-10.
