Awesome.

This thread has allowed me to avoid actually thinking about my theoretical Sun Elf maul swinger.

That will likely never happen because I am cheap AF and won't buy a +1 heart, but whatever.

It's more likely that it will never happen because the race with a racial tree that gives bonuses to mauls is precluded from worshiping the god of mauls.

And without the +2 threat there's little to no point in using a maul, regardless of the Sun Elf enhancement tree.  6 AP for +3 to hit and +6 damage with a sub-par weapon?  No, thanks.
