Torment Update #61: Release Date
Hello Exiles,

Today's update is a little on the short side, but I think you'll forgive us this time…

We are extremely excited to announce that Torment: Tides of Numenera will be releasing February 28th, 2017! It has been a long journey, and without your help on Kickstarter and our other crowdfunding platforms, it would never have happened. We could not be happier to be delivering a successor to the Torment name and legacy, and we look forward to you enjoying it early next year.

When the game releases, those of you who already have your Steam keys redeemed for the beta version of the game will auto-update to the final build, and those of you who are planning to enjoy the game DRM-free from GOG will be able to as soon as that version is ready. We will also make a key exchange option available around that time for those of you who want to deactivate your Steam key and switch to GOG. At that point, most of the remaining digital rewards will also be made available to you.

For those of you with physical goods, we'll be prompting you to confirm your final shipping information in the near future. We do not have an exact shipping timeline for those goods just yet, but Techland is hard at work getting them ready for you as soon as possible. Please be sure to keep us advised of any changes by updating your shipping details on the backer web site!

Rest assured that while we have our release date, that doesn't mean our work is quite done yet. We'll be using our remaining time to polish the game for you up to the last possible moment. And of course, once we get closer to release we'll have more news to share with you as well.

Chris Keenan,
VP of Development

Noice. Now let's see if it's any good. I have to admit, my expectations are set pretty darn high for a game from the guys who made Planescape.

My problem is handholding, unskippable tutorial at the start of the game, prompts of a passerby telling you exactly what you are seeing, camera focusing on every single relevant thing, wrestling control of the game from the player, etc.

Pure retardation.

Pure retardation or just story oriented?

I ask as some people have trouble seeing past scripted story scenes and think it's hand holding when it's just story telling.

PST was story oriented and didnt need any of those things, neither did Kotor 2 or MotB, there were a few exceptions in these games, but they were used sparingly, effectively, and where it fit. Numanuma is doing it in the most jarring and out of place way, forcing the player to look at the story instead of drawing the player into it, hamfisted and dumbed down doesnt even begin to describe it.

The problem is that its 2016 and retards that never played at a table with a DM worth a shit are designing our RPGs.

The most broken epic PL in the game is the ridiculous AC buff from martial PLs. But when you include all the inherent benefits from reincarnation, the thing is above the roof. The benefit from TR was supposed to be minimal, but now it is game breaking. start a new character and you will feel, you will get raped in heroics.

Personally I think lower heroics on new characters are harder than Legendary Elite content on a character with good gear and has all destinies farmed.

And someone in another thread called ME delusional recently!

Wow.

Have you EVER gone to Law School Feyn? Have you EVER been asked by a United States Senator who is now the Vice President of the United States to write a paper just for him on a particular topic of Constitutional Law for his use as a Senator? Have you ever been asked to help a very notable Harvard PhD turned Constitutional scholar with his very-well received book on Legal Philosophy and Constitutional Revolutions? Have you ever been offered a job as a Deputy Attorney General BEFORE you even graduated Law School?

No? Then STFU you fucking amateur.
