99.999% of what you see is trash
Only identify things you might use or need IMO

~

On rare you want: high hp roll + resists + (build specific stuff)
The roll is dependent on the item level.

Some builds want energy shield + regen.
Some want Electric damage on hit + elemental damage increase
Some want phys damage and attack speed

Naw.

I'm guessing you're thinking that that must mean there are some "must-have" points in the tree that limits building, but it really doesn't.  There are must-haves for any given build, but those are the ones along the way, and there are usually multiple points that give similar bonuses.  The Keystone nodes are unique abilities that can be useful in different ways to different builds.

The fact that any class can reach any point on the skill tree allows for basically infinite customization.  Witch with a bow?  Duelist Summoner?  Sure!

Min/maxing becomes difficult due to the number of stats, the limited resources, and  the random nature of gear.  To be excellent at one thing, you're probably going to have to seriously suck at something else.  The wide variance in mob abilities means you're going to find something that kicks your ass pretty regularly no matter how quickly you blow through everything else.

Give it a shot, there are a lot of theorycrafters and builders to play off, and it's way more complicated that it seems at first.

The build I'm playing can only hit 5.5k max. (Am currently @ 4.5)
Big problem IMO.
I can't confidently solo an Uber-Lab and @ lvl 86 dying now makes getting 87 almost impossible w/o using strand cheese.

Yeah, I'm finding that this Flicker Strike build tends to die once per map, which just isn't going to work going forward.  I can breeze through the Merciless Lab, which I've never been able to do before, which is nice for farming enchantments (if boring as hell.)  I haven't got all the trials for the Uber Lab yet.  Just about to hit 76.

I should be able to get to 6k life with some better equipment and a few more levels, which should be enough to avoid a lot of the stupid one-shot deaths that are pretty much my only weakness.  Need a couple of unique flasks, too, which are hard to come by in SSF. 

I miss Legacy league, was a total lootfest.  I hope they do something similar in the future.

Breaches are insane fun with this build, just minute after minute of pure slaughter.

Strand and Arid Lake maps are super easy, linear(ish), and with high mob density.  Fast levelling well into the 80's if you use your Shaper's Orbs to make them drop 5 levels higher.  With some builds, you can basically hold down one button and clear the whole map without having to walk anywhere.

Strand got nerfed some, though, fewer mobs now.

They drop when you complete the bonus requirement of certain maps.  They are untradable, only drop once, and can only be used on the tier of map they drop for.

The "cheese" element is taking an easy map and adding as much +monster pack size as you can to it with orbs and then tear-assing through it.   IDK, seems more like smart levelling to me, but whatever, there will always be whiners.  Ideally, remember the maps you like and Shape those to have them be fun and also be more rewarding.

yes. when the league is over your items and character get shipped to standard game with all the rest. Best way to get dope items. and adds some randomness to the quests.

Yeah, they have a unique mechanic (the harbingers, in this case) and if that mechanic works well, it gets added to the core game.  You see previous league stuff like Prophecies, Essence monsters, and Bloodlines in the core game, and a bunch more of them can be added to maps later on as you level up Zana, or found as modifiers on maps.

The best part about league play is that it's a totally fresh economy, so you're not racing against people who have stockpiled twink gear for years.

After the league ends, your character, your master and map progress (if it's higher than what you already have), and all your stash stuff is transferred to Standard or Hardcore.

The previous league, Legacy, was awesome because you could find Leaguestones that let you add up to three of the previous leagues' mechanics to any zone.  The leaguestones had modifiers, too, but limited uses.  It was the bestest.  Total lootfest, like I said.

The leagues also have a set of challenges, and you get unique cosmetics and a hideout deco as you complete them.  Basic mmo epeen stuff, but I like to have something to work toward beyond just xp and gear.

There are also race events and "seasons" where you earn points towards alternate art version of some decent-to-awesome unique items.

I haven't tried that aspect of the game out at all yet, and there isn't anything running currently, but they're quite good at letting you know when one is on.

If anyone is starting new and in standard, I've got a year's worth of shit I'll never use to help you get on your feet. Shoot me a PM and I'll see what I can do. Likewise, if you ever get bored of mapping solo, I've got a lvl 86 Warchief and a lvl 85 Frost Bolt totem characters in the league, and I'm always down for some group runs.

POE is amazing. It's like they took every consideration of where DDO is shit and fixed it, and also added a bunch of awesome shit DDO doesn't have (hideouts?).

There's literally 2 things missing:

Not enough hotbars (there's no reason they couldn't give us 10 active slots)
PoV (I would really prefer the true 3d floating head camera to the diablo style one in POE). Especially because the game has such beautiful graphics
