I think if you're looking to primarily cast spells, you should go Arcanotechnician. You really need to specialize.
Theorycrafting, it looks like you can get useful DC numbers for Shattered Defenses and Thunder-Shock Weapon without dipping into Arcanotechnician.

Also I don't see how Arti is more survivable.
To prioritize survival, you'd have to go Shadowdancer for Evasion (assuming Insightful Reflexes) and Incorporeality for max avoidance.
