I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

well yeah you only have those two choices if you're retarded and incapable of realizing that you have no way of changing the outcome

this is not why anyone ever watches sports for.

Its possible some people watch sports to enjoy seeing feats of human accomplishment. But if you aren't going to get invested enough to either cheer or critique, yeah, what's the point?

yeah i didn't think the concept of simply just enjoying something for what it is would be something that this group could wrap their heads around. This is the #metoo movement equivalent of the girls who fucked the wrong dude when they were drunk.

No, you must not say anything. No cheering allowed. No criticizing anything or anyone. Just sit there and be an impartial spectator without feelings. There will be no passion for your hobbies here!

I'm pretty sure most hobby enthusiasts don't band together to openly mock the people responsible for their hobby. "fuckin a fred, that last challenger kit by amt was a piece of fucking shit, and the factory workers that assembled it should go jump in a woodchipper the stupid fucks"

You have never been a fan of a losing sports franchise before.

I don't think its a question of size so much as lack of technical ability and knowhow.

To compare, EverQuest Online Adventures, an EQ MMO for the playstation 2, has a server-emulator project in progress. Its tough to get round figures, but even at it's zeneth, that game probably had a smaller population than than DDO does now.

I sort of looked into EQ adventures. Its mostly just one guy doing it. Unfortunately he cant do much past the character creator and the first town area. Rip Same goes for Matrix online.

I had read an article on it a little while back that implied it was a team of at least 4 or 5 with a couple cheerleaders on the side, but that's actually encouraging.

Figure, EQ adventures had to literally create the emulator from scratch(the servers were LONG gone) AND make it run on a console. The fact that 1 guy even got as far as making the game be able to load is a bloody miracle.

DDO has several advantages - the servers are still running, its PC-based, and there's a fully functional Asheron's Call server out there that's open-source. That in itself actually makes a big difference; its considerably harder for SSG to shut down an emu project that's open source.

While I don't expect some rogue to do it on there own, that factoid tells me it's perhaps much easier than I expected to make one of these things work. Just needs a handful of people with the skillset.

Also, in case you needed this fact in your life: there IS a matrix online emulator http://mxo.hardlinedreams.com/
