I'm old school D&D.

If someone mouths off enough at the table, you're totally within your right to jump across it and shove a broken bottle in their eye.

Not sure where you played D&D, but it doesn't match any table top game I was a part of.   That sounds like old school maximum security prison shit, tbh.

Meh.  In the early 80s D&D didn't have the nerd stereotype assigned to it yet.  Pretty much everyone played it at least for awhile.  The main group I played with had 3 guys that were also on the football team.

My #1 Rule was always Don't Die.

I think that was the only rule I had in my parties.  People followed it well or were ridiculed while piking a ride in my sacks.

Everyone is new to a dungeon at some point.   Many have a learning curve.  After that, the excuses get thin.. 

You can usually tell when someone is playing a game on their phone while playing DDO.
