Agreed.
Melee built in CC is fairly limited, and I do have a tactics fighter with SB, Sap, Trip etc. but the fact those are single target with long cooldowns (and also do not work on some mob types) make them of limited use. And they need significant investment past life/ feat/enhancement/gear wise to get DCs that are meaningful in higher skulls.
So epic levels come along, Lay Waste is nice because it is AOE but has a obtuse cooldown mechanic (which bugs out half the time) , and the knockdown is short and it requires PA be active which is far from optimal.
So finally after risking your life every time you have to hit something for 29 levels, you get a decent option for CC. It's a great feat. Very powerful. And it should be. Because for most melees it is probably really the only really good CC option in the game for them.
If they buff ranged DPS much more, we're basically going to have to play Dual Crossbows and Dragons.
