It’s a lot more difficult to play than a fire sorc.. but I see the potential. I have a bunch of LGS I made for it, but I’m waiting till Monday to buy IHs at a discount.

Do not try the patience of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.

We are dreamers, shapers, singers, and makers. We study the mysteries of laser and circuit, crystal and scanner, holographic demons and invocation of equations. These are the tools we employ, and we know many things.

The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

So funny. My initial impressions: Uhh.. Maybe I should stick to Fire Sorc... I'm probably just not smart enough for it. I'll run it for a week or so and see if it starts clicking.

It took a little while for me to get the knack but I’m a big fan now. Excellent cc for everything except reapers and Sorc level dps with bigger burst and longer wait between volleys. Much better defense. Vastly better healing. Many more spells to cast regularly. Better debuffs  than Sorc too.

As a pretty fucking talentless player I can say that build is legit. I had a human Vile Chemist VKF shitshow and slowly respec'd to it. Now using it for a Dragonborn life and it's even better.

I think Fred doesn't know how to offer you the Alchemist bonus feats to swap. I don't think it was hidden because I had things depending on it, but I could be wrong.

One thing that took a second to get used to is that if you are in orange showing yellow on the bottom and you cast blue it's not going straight to green. It clears it, meaning you get black with blue on the bottom and no reaction, so you need an extra cast of something. Accounting for that extra cast took me a minute and if you screw it up you can be in trouble since most of the cc is centered on you. Like I thought I was in green getting the dc bump but really I was in nothing, so the mobs saved and I'm standing there with my dick in my hand.

The real build choice to me is cutting dragonborn or falconry to push into the healing tree because of the run speed in green. Nobody has really made much of action boosts getting turned into spells but I think it's not nothing. Sprint boost with sp instead of charges, and it's blue, so it triggers green reaction for another 1% per level run speed. Fuck charges.

Gisty's write up is also really good for shitty players like me because he conveys the attitude of the build and I think it's pretty spot on. Always be boosting. Green lets you cc fucking anything for 12 seconds and orange lets you nuke and save sp if you don't have stacks of pots. For that 12 seconds of orange I don't think there's anything that can match the spellpower numbers. And at the same time, 12 second Litany clicky.

I would like to see what happens with Helf Warlock dilettante. If it triggers favorably on burning ambition and elemental combination that would maybe be an option if you wanted to pull ap out of the racial tree.

Tl;dr: I built a shitty Alchemist and thought it was a shitty class, then I followed Gisty's advice and realized I was in a Christmas special where the shitty one was me all along.

Also I think smoke bomb might be extra good. Mobs that I fully expect to be aware of generic invis seem to not be, and I swear I saw some lobotomized mob behavior that I can't think of any other reason for. The sla version.

2MCL is around 7% dps increase at cap. 8% crit is about 5.6% increase at cap.

The numbers fluctuate a bit depending on gear etc. Its roughly a wash though.

The reason for dragonborn is for wings + DC boost (on top of the dps increases that are comparable or better than tiefling).

Wings is so important to being able to land hard cc and your rotations.

is there anyway to get the 10% set bonus increase to spell crit and keep evasion? that would get me to 93% fire spell crit chance.

Maybe I'll swap to dragonborn then..
