I think the design is a major win. It's almost entirely lateral progression allowing combinations of 4 different sets to mix and match items. This frees up certain slots because I no longer am tethered to a sharn set.

Silent avenger set can be worn now with some combination of set augments or the feywild summer/spring set items. Or sharn set with complimentary set augments and feywild sets. Or just feywild sets.

IDK the last time I was this excited to play gear tetris. Very promising expansion for just the loot emancepation alone. Great job by the devs here, really is.

Its interesting so far. Sooooo stoked about MORE ml29 gear... /sarcasm

That being said the new gear system does look like it'll be a lot of fun. Assuming the quests aren't god fucking awful to run. Someone at SSG has a giant raging nerd boner for extremely long flagging mechanics.

Not looking forward to having to grind 3x of the same raid item, to get the augments though.

Also why can't they come out with a dagger that actually competes with pain/suffering. Dull dagger and now this fey dagger... what absolute shit.

I THINK they have 2 people at least, lyn does most of the gear design and I think coco does the rest? I have a really tough time giving a shit who the devs are these days.

I really like the new stuff. Not meaningfully more powerful but it is much more flexible. Build the stuff you’re interested in from Sharn or Ravenloft and then fill in the rest with Feywild and toss in a couple of Legendary Greensteel for the last little bit of customization.

Hold up there Rubbinns.

While I generally like the set up (though it's odd the PM gear is in the Winter/Tank set...), I have some issues with the augments.

Particularly because it seems like you're either confused or I misread that shit. There is no adding current set's to gear IE: No Of the Family on Molten Silver Gauntlets via an augment.

The set augments are individual 3pc sets you seemingly craft by farming 3x raid loot of the same item. Which is a bit shitty if you ask me.

If the system was get the raid loot for 'X' expansions set and sacrifice said raid loot and new mcguffin from the expansion to add 'Of the Family' to the Molten Silver Gauntlets, then I'd be on board and singing their praises. But so far it seems like as per usual they dropped the ball a fucking hair short of crossing the finishing line.

The way I interpreted the set augment system was that by slotting in one of the set augments into 3 items gives the augment set bonus. So say if you wanted to use Silent Avenger set, you then slot 3 augments into any other gear that isn't your armor, cloak, belt ( the silent set ), it then grants the augments set bonus.

So I could combine Silent Avenger set + 3 Dusk Raider ( 20 mp/rp )augments, and I end up with Silent set bonus with 20 mp/rp.

Or Sharn Part of the Family set and 3 Truthful Blow ( 25 armor bypass ) augments gets me Family set + 25% fortification bypass. Ends up with 25% fort bypass instead of 10%.

That's also how I read it. Throw them into 3 items that don't have any set bonus at all (or at least a set bonus that you aren't using/don't care about) and you get the augment set bonus.

If we're using an pre-Feywild trinket, then it's kind of a no-brainer to toss one of the set augments into the trinket.  Don't put more than one set augment into a single item, though. Because that doesn't work (per Lynnabel).

These set bonuses are not like the other at-cap set bonuses you may be used to: These sets will contain a total of 15 items, and you'll only need 7 of them to get the last set bonus. What this means is that the set bonuses work like Filigree sets do: they start out with a bonus for having 2 pieces of the set, and then an additional bonus for 3, and then 4, and so on until you reach the final bonus at 7. That being said, it's entirely likely that a player will only aim for 5 in a single set, or several 2-set versions of all 4 of the new Feywild sets. These set bonuses will NOT stack with the Sharn or Ravenloft set bonuses, so you'll be using these to fill around gaps and shore up weaknesses in your character rather than a singular build-around for the playstyle you're looking for.

Loot Fact 3: The Artifacts in Feywild are in two Feywild set bonuses at once. So yes, things just got a lot more complicated.

Loot Fact 4: Heroic items in the Feywild pack are all part of one, all-seasonal set bonus, so there's a lot less complication when you're trying to get gear at level 5.

So, with that out of the way, let's examine the benefits and other implications of this approach:

A lot of the feedback I've been noting over my years on the project is that the Sharn and Ravenloft sets are far too restrictive in their slot choices. Players tend to like the raw power of these sets, but they limit the freedom of our fabulous gearset builders just a tad too much, hence the repeated feedback in that direction. This is swinging - hard - in the other direction. My hope is that this kind of slot freedom will allow for a lot more active choice when it comes to endgame play, gear-wise.
A lot of other feedback I've also been noting is that the power jump from Ravenloft to Sharn disrupted a lot of players' gear farming routes and stepped on a lot of content. We're trying something different here - an expansion pack without an ilevel boost - and if we can manage to build enticing gear without an ilevel jump, I think we should. But, that's what this kind of early feedback is for: If you feel differently, now is the time to let your voice be heard.
This approach means that if you're going for a full 7 set in a season, you'll need to find space for less than half of the available items. This means that if one or two of the items don't really pique your interest, that's fine. There's more than enough to choose from. This turns into a huge benefit on my end as well. With the knowledge that not all items will be used by all players, I can fine tune niche items for niche playstyles far easier. If I wanted to build an item specific to something super specific - for example, build an item that any Air Sorcerer would drool over - I'm less worried that players will be forced to build around it for its set bonus.
Finally, I feel this approach also lets me get far more weird with the actual items themselves, thematically. You're going to see subthemes within Seasons - Dead Leaves within Autumn, rainstorms within Spring - and I do hope you'll expect the truly unexpected when you finally approach the details of the items themselves.

They stack with the named sets, but they don't complete the named sets.

I'd rather have the flexibility of being able to complete Ravenloft, Sharn, or Feywild sets by sacrificing a corresponding raid loot from that set.

The 20MP for a 3pc set doesn't appeal to me over the concept of changing non-set bonused raidloot into actually decent sets. I'd rather actually finally be able to wear the KT armors than crunching them into augments, but that's me personally.

Maybe I'm just the only person not seeing the universal appeal in the 3pc sets compared to them completeing any set. Because if they're going to continually expand the sets as planned and with heroic ones added down the line; I'd rather see shit like making new combinations for Abishai Might or other classic sets with augments.

New Augment UI Not available in this preview but it's similar to Legendary Greensteel and Sentient Weapons
Revamped Current Augments Not available in this preview but the gist is that old augments will be made to match Cannith Crafting power values for effects at their minimum level.


How to Access
During this preview you can easily access all of these augments via "The Loot Guy" NPC located in the center of the Test Dojo. Note: As stated above, new augments are essentially non-functional in this preview build and we've only included them in order to be able to get design feedback before the system is fully implemented.

Known Issues
New Augments that are in this update are made to work with the New Augment System, which is not currently accessible to players. This means that they are currently effectively nonfunctional.
Old augments will continue to function as they were as they are still using the Old Augment System.

Some new implications:

1. ANY loot without an augment slot is trash.

2. Options are highly increased.

3. Passing raid loot will reduce.

4. Some of the SPECIFICS are weak. For example, one of the new augments requires a THTH weapon, threads, and a Feywild piece to do the same thing an existing Deconstructor augment does... Same with a golemn heart augment.

But, the SYSTEMS look like a very good direction. It increases power some, and it increases flexibility a lot. Win.

14 gear slots. You can now have like 3-5 "set bonueses" depending on what you want. You aren't forced to slot a weak single item for a set bonus nearly as much as before. This is good.

It's not as important to slot LGS for HPs/SPs except on high-level raid tanks. This is good because the base effects on LGS are a little weak now.

LGS wep/debuffers will remain relevant. Also good imo.
