Build Challenge!

I've got challenge for you aspiring and established builders out there.

Figure out a build that will best incorporate Valorius, the Flame Blade into it.

First, notice it uses your WIS mod as the To-Hit and Damage mod.

Second, notice it is made of Flame and bypasses "etherealness."

Third, the build can be a melee, or a caster. I don't care which.

Fourth, the build's race must be either an Aasimar or a Tiefling.

Build away!

Didn’t Strimtom already post some flame blade ranger?  I just assumed it was these.

I've no idea. I really don't pay much attention to him or his builds.

Wis-based Tempest is pretty straightforward. You'd be mathematically better off with long sword or battle axes, but Killer Instinct from Falconry, anything is a Wis weapon, so I often use e.g. scimitars (vulkoor's edge) for easy DR breaking.

What you don't want to do is go all in on wis to-hit and damage and only have that one weapon to swing.

But that was kind of my point.

I wanted to build around the new raid scimitar.

Sure, it would likely be a flavor build, but that's what I am looking for.

The challenge is to make it as best you can relying on wielding Valorius.

Scimitars don't have much of a niche. They generally have to compete with every other one-hander and are mostly found wanting. I guess they (scimitars) are one of the best options for a dex-based tempest, but that would defeat your purpose. But it's that or choose to use this inferior weapon on an otherwise identical wis-based build.

For some reason I really want to find a fire elemental druid / something build that can do some SB fighting with that and maybe high healing.

What about a Fire Elemental-shape Druid?

How about a Fire Savant Eldritch Knight?

There are multiple ways to synergize with a "firey" build, I think, and I'm trying to wrap my head around several of them.

SWF with Valorius has got to be an option, maybe with the Druid or the Sorc.

There seem to be so many possibilities, including, the boring Tempest.

There you go. That's certainly an option.

Taking all of the build options that have "fire" in the name is not synergy.

So nothing here to droid's claim here?:
Its not really niche...there are lots of builds that use WIS as their combat stat.  Most do it through Falconry, but this would let you free up some AP there.

Plus, dont miss that the damage type is Fire.  This would let you bypass the DR on any monster with physical DR.  Also gets 5% bonus damage from Tiefling racial fire debuff.
I'm referring to the last sentence about the 5% bonus damage?

How long does improved scorch for tieflieng last?  Could you keep the immunity removal up full time?

Tieflings can do that. See their Tier IV Improved Scortch power in their racial tree.

Sorcs can also do it while their Elemental Apotheosis form is active.

Yes I just was saying so.  So that you kept it in mind with your build.

Tiefling Sorc with eldritch knight with falconry might be best though healing is a pita until cocoon/renewal. Your dcs and somewhat your hps will suck.

Falconry not needed. Valorius uses WIS to Hit and Damage.

Not unless you can start at level 29.  You'll at least want falconry before,  and possibly after if you find that you can't keep immunities stripped off.

Dumb idea, maybe the old 12/6/2 split?  Fvs/ftr/monk.  Feats would be a problem.  Swf line, monk stances, precision, caster stuff if able.

Stuck in pajamas though so mrr would suck.

Aps would be spent in racial, monk for fire debuff, fighter for strike with no thought, and rest fvs. Or however you felt like spending them.

The main issue would be deity, neither tiefling or aasimar can take undying court.

Oh well, good luck, at I tried poorly.
