Well Fuck..... (Read 3539 times)

	... fuck, fuck, fuck, fuckity fuck, fuck, fuck.... Been using a Scimitar RGB mouse.. but beating on it the last few years has it acting up.. so ordered a replacement 'elite' It arrived.. I backed up all my profiles, swapped the mouse... and after importing the profiles .... they're all screwed up... every key is instead number remap #1... (sigh) So I figure I screwed up the export somehow... so I plug back in the old mouse.... ... and everything goes to shit. EVERYTHING is broken, I cant open anything with left lick unless I right click it first THEN left click a dozen times... fuck, fuck, fuck... After a freakish amount of patience and trial/error I finally get Cue open and re-export my profiles.. save them to nice new names.. replug in the new mouse.. import the updated profiles (the profiles are saved to the individual mouse, and aren't available when you swap mice).... And they apparently aren't compatible with the new mouse firmware... So now I get to spend an hour or so tonight recreating my profiles from scratch.... ... fuck, fuck, fuck, fuckity fuck, fuck, fuck.... At least there's no learning curve this time around as I know how to do it... was a fucking nightmare the 1st time around.

I couldn't ever really get it to work for me that well. I'd mess up my movement and aiming trying to use the side mouse buttons with my thumb. My ex played ddo with me at the time, and she loved it. However, it wasn't a deal breaker for her to stop moving in mid sequence to hit a button.

	Corsair scimitar doesn't have that issue... its actually very smooth and functional. The only issue I ever have, is if you hot key a macro that macro WILL take a second or so to activate and complete (depending on the key steps and actions)... so if you hit another hotkey before the previous has finished you may get an unintended action Eg: Mouse button G5 is 'CTL+2 then 5' (2nd Hotbar, 5th button) if I hit Mouse Button G7 'CTL+4 then 3' too soon I can get CTL+2 then 3.. lag tends to be the common factor to detyrimentally effect the command going in.. I've hit 'Heal' hotkey and had a menu like DDO Store pop up... deadly because those fucking menus steal priority from the combat window and you can't fight till you close it Currently using the K-95 RGB with the Scimitar Elite.. gotta say I love it... I DID have a Razor Orbweaver Chroma mixed in too, but the directional thumb is a poorly designed D-Pad instead of a actual decent joystick ... so I stopped using it Osharan Tregarth wrote on May 19^th, 2021 at 6:06pm: I'd picked up one of the razor 12 side key mice a while back. 	That's Corsair for you. Their iCUE software is known to be absolute trash while their hardware is godlike I myself have had some issues with iCUE. Luckily minor issues. I've got the Scimitar Pro since 2014 and still working like a charm; the K70 Mechanical Keyboard and the VOID elite headset. Absolute phenomenal peripherals with an excellent material finish.

	I use a multi button Bluetooth mouse from Walmart. Works well and was under $20. It has thumb buttons and middle buttons.

	read carefylly all the comments I will have to replace my trusted Logitech M560 that has been (ab)used for at least 15 years now. ne of the button ( the right one ) is wonky. ( I checked and there's actually a small notch in the plastic that makes it wonky... it can't really be fixed easily as it means adding plastic to fill that notch. ) I have only two very important things : - Ambidextrous mouse, I use my left hand for the mouse, most of the mice are made for right hand use... And none are made for left hand use, so ambidextrous is the best compromise. - Wireless ( I already got enough cable running at the back of the desk )

	Wireless makes it slightly problematic.. everyone is low on stock. That being said.. BOTH Razor and Corsair make left/right handed versions of gaming mice. But for me, I mostly support the weight of my arm with my palm, and hold the mouse with my thumb and pinkie. To be able to use the side mouse buttons without having to stop aiming, I was going to have to make a molded addon to move the attachment points to the base of my middle finger. Or maybe learn how to use a mouse differently. Lol.

	My Naga Trinity RMB has been shitting the bed for a few months now. Not too bad in ddo where I can toggle mouselook but going back to ff14 made it unbearable. I had to dig out my old Naga 2014, which still works perfectly, albeit it has a different finish on the outside and thus feels weird.

That's a certainty... spilled wine ( and/or water, coffee ) one both my Blackwidow Ultimate 2016 ( home kbd ) and my Blackwidow 2014 ( for the Office ). Unplug, shake so that all the fluid gets drained away, wait an hour, replug and you're shiny.

The M560 will be put to greener pasture ( read : it will become the backup mouse in case a mouse breaks down ) Installation went almost without a hitch ( well Windows 7 didn't like the driver and failed to install it from Windows Update so I'm stuck with an always on 'update are available' icon and it reser some parameters in my AMD graphic driver leading to weird screen colors, it has been solved by activating a feature in the AMD driver. ) I think that the next step is going to upgrade to W10 on a brand new SSD drive as I saw that the SATA ones were almost cheaper than HDDs for the same capacity.

	My Naga has started to die. It fails to drag about half of the time. It's pretty damned old and easily lasted long enough that I would buy the same thing again. I generally buy the same thing over and over if it works but if there's a reason to buy a Scimitar or something I'd take any advice. Anyone have a compelling reason to try something other than the Naga?
