At that point, it had become like DDO for me when I left (at the time, log in, run Shroud for mats, repeat daily).
I've personally never felt like the crafting aspect of DDO really ever managed to lock you into needing it opposed to quest/raid loot. Like don't get me wrong, there's flexibility in crafted stuff that you otherwise don't get.
But enough to make me quit over? Eh, not sure I'm there with you Strake and I hate crafting grind in most MMOs. Which is hilarious because most of these days I find myself playing survival-crafting type games. The irony isn't lost on me.

Feel like most of DDO's systems really need to have "crafting" in giant sarcastic air quotes.
I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

That was just one aspect. Dungeon Alert, Dungeon Scaling, massive changes to combat and mechanics, a very long dearth of content (have you been around long enough to remember "Sooooon!"?), nerfs galore (SO MANY NERFS), and the leaning in to more and more grind.
I think I was on my 25th day of grinding for an eSoS scroll when I realized I'd been placed on a hamster wheel and the fun had been sapped from the game. Now think about that statement... instead of content, we got the same old content, now "epic" - along with its own embedded grind.

You just didnt make it to the duping era. That saved the game for many people.

Lmfao, honestly. This right here.
I remember the misery of the S/S/S era. And then I remember dupalooza and despite the bans some folks got. I think that honestly revitalized the game for a lot of us.

Got me back and kept me playing for YEARS with the shit I duped.
Then along came stone re-use and that got me back again.
Then box duping.
....what does that say that the only thin injecting fun into the games are the exploits?

It might have for me, for a bit at least. I love me some exploits, particularly when they get around gratuitous grind.

Exploits are always a blast. Some of the most fun I had in the game involved spending weekends passing soulstones through the door for VoN 6 to get the entire guild equipped. Though, the most fun by far was figuring out how to beat the Abbott, when it was impossible. We had to invent exploits for almost every stage of that, and everyone had to execute them perfectly in order for the win... but, man, getting a bunch of Abbott gear when everyone else in the game had given up on the raid entirely was a real hoot.

I don’t really know anything about exploits, but the game is in a good place right now unless you want to solo r10s with your nuker.

I remember how badly everyone treated each other, laser focused on getting that shit for the self until there were four people, each 3/4 done with an item when three of them could have the item if they thought about somebody else for a change.
It was bad for guilds, bad for pugs, and made the most bizarre premade rules this game has ever seen.
And let's not get into how people behaved when scrolls dropped on kill and had to be picked up.

New 64bit server Cormyr freezes and stutters similar to their 32bit cousins so their lies of reducing lag with 64bit server got found out.

I've felt this way for a hot minute. The only class that 'struggles' imo is Warlock. And even then that's if you're trying to blast in reaper, DC lock is still viable though definitely not as brain dead fun gameplay.

Played a bit on Cormyr. The lag really gets bad when a mist stalker shows up. And anything more than about 4 mobs causes stuttering and freezes. Even playing solo is laggy.

Do a lot of people play on Cormyr? Is it like Hardcore? DDOAudit doesn't say yet.
Hardcore is a fresh server and lags a lot. I always thought because of the amount of players. Maybe that is not the case but there is an inherent lag as a base problem.

But Cormyr is a 64-bit server. Lag shouldn't be a thing. SSG said it would run better than the 32-bit servers.

Cormyr is not hardcore.
Yes, there seems to be a lot of people on Cormyr.
We shall how long that lasts.
No transfers in or out, so it is a fresh start for many.
Lag is definitely a problem they have spoken about in the forums.
It doesn't seem to be mob related - I get lag breaking boxes in am empty dungeon.
I play at quieter times for the server and there is still lag, so server pop isn't the only cause either.
When it first opened and Korthos island was full, lag was very bad as you would expect. So I got away from the island, into a Harbour instance and it was still lagging.
