How to grief people in DDO

I didn't see a guide on this, so I started this one. It's a work in progress because I'm not very good at griefing people. I solo too much, so I do not get a lot of practice. For now, this will just be an incomplete list of things you can do to grief people.

I'm going to leave out things like "abuse voice chat" or "rip people off in trades"

Category One: Share Please
1) when someone joins a group and says share please, share the quest "Emerald Claw Nugget" to destroy their Silver Flame Amulet
2) join IP groups and attempt to share every quest in your journal (be sure to step into a quest/wilderness zone first). Bonus points if you get someone killed

Category Two: Blind Invites
1) when given a blind invite, accept, then step into an unrelated quest (or, step into the actual quest and spawn 4 level 1 gold seal hirelings)
2) when you see someone soloing content, spam party invites at them. Again, bonus points if they die.

Category Three: Spells
1) cast Grease or Sleet Storm in any quest
2) cast Grease in key locations (bridge in Tower, entrance ramp in Sub, etc).
3) Greater Teleport people to the Twilight Forge
4) ...at the end of a vale walkup, after saying "gather on me for Teleport to Meridia"
5) Greater Dispel people
6) ...when they are meleeing Harry

Category Four: Quests
1) pull every lever you see
2) ...in Genesis Point
3) Choose the wrong NPC dialogue options
4) ...at the Litany dragon
5) run the quests Undermine and Blown to Bits

That should be enough to get things started.  Cheesy

Kormor's in key locations. Standing in front of Velah, inside traps, in front of Shroud blades...

Setting off fun traps like the sigils on the ground of Shroud pt3...

Blowing a whistle into the mic instead of talking...

Bracelet of Friends hijinx...

Pretending to disable deadly traps...

Claiming to be a thrower build, but only after the quest has started...

Depositing soul stones in amusing locations when you have worthless party members...

Trade window at key moments...

Ohh, I forgot about Orthon Challenge. It makes every trip to VoD or Hound more exciting.

In the long long ago, it did work on every summon. Hell, just leaving an instance would cause your summon to attack the nearest party member.

Had a party member killed by their own ooze a few months back after it got dispelled by a gnoll outside of ADQ. We all just sat and watched it kill him as he was afk/shrining. It was glorious.

It can be difficult to tell the difference between the clueless and the griefers, but why take chances on a reform? I've seen most of this happen, but attribute it to cluelessness most of the time.

The requirement for the entire party to be in one place  to advance quests is a griefer's delight as a game mechanic. The ones I can recall include grouping up at the end in Misery's peak, at several places in Diplomatic Impunity, at the end in Acute Delerium, and probably other quests that I've never run or forgotten.

All sorts of potential in the Shroud. Hitting the altar in Shroud part 4 before anyone has shrined could be compounded by taking the ellie out quickly in part  5. Breaking crystals in part 3. Killing lieutenants too quickly in part 2. Wailing the devils in part 4.

Failure conditions always worry me a little in pugs. Killing Venerated in Faithful Departed. Killing spiders in Let Sleeping Dust Lie. Killing too many kobold prophets in Stealthy Reposession.

Blow trap panels deliberately in elite quests. Break the box in KNR. Killing the first brother too quickly in GoP. I have heard that killing the archers in the Crucible maze is what spawns the casters with ice storm, but don't run it enough to know. Kill the cube in Coal before conquest. Get NPCs killed in protection missions.

There are an infinite number of places in the game where you can round up mobs and dump them on your party, triggering DA red. Drag all of the giants back to the portal in Redwillows at the end. Set off as many warning bells as you can in Frame Work, and drag as many Cabal Seers together as you can. Motorboat floor tile puzzles.

Advancing the quest before optionals are complete, or before the rest of the party has rested / is ready to carry on.

Thankfully, for most of these, griefers will only get away with it once, and people will reform without them and add their names to a DNG list. There are not all that many places in the game where you can grief in complete safety and anonymity.

That idea above of sharing the emerald claw is just evil. I would be very upset if I had to run three Necro quests (let alone flag), or window farm Cursed three times, assuming I had an opener available.

Why does this matter?

This information is not correct.  What causes them to spawn (may not be exact) is having someone jump around in the area with the ladders - high jump needed.
