LOL @ any dev who thinks 4500 SP drain is a reasonable attack (the first iteration of Lolth's attack in CitW).  Now Flimsy says raid loot is dropping but no one has seen any yet after several completions.

Where the fuck does Turbine find these people?  I'll complete the raid once as a challenge, but I'll go back to farm it only if the loot is any good.

Hi Welcome to today's edition of Dont Be A Retard with your host Soturi.

i realize that the issue has already been resolved/ignored, but i have an opinion on the subject and fuck you so to clear up any butthurtedness anyone may still be feeling about cripey's comment, let me translate what our friends were trying to say.

there's a difference between making a tasteless joke that some people might find funny but most people wont, and actually BEING a genocidal asshole who makes statements like 'omg jews diaf' as a matter of actual opinion.

if it's such a bad joke, i expect none of you will make starving children in africa jokes, 'dont drink the kool-aid' jokes, or any type of rape/murder/bigotry jokes, ever again. because it's the same shit, and i honestly have no idea why it's considered 'crossing the line' to joke about some murdered jews but socially acceptable to make jokes about Kony getting children to kill their parents. i personally think people who kill other people for ANY reason other than self-defense are pieces of shit who deserved to be buttraped by a llama, but i dont stick 'people who support genocide' in the same basket as 'people who make jokes about genocide'.

also, i like what little ive seen of the new raid. the rest of this update is fucking stupid.

this has been Dont Be A Retard with Soturi.

jesus christ here i am defending these two asshats. fucking vault.

I'm pretty sure something is fucked with the drop rate of shards and seals in the Spinner chain on live too.  I don't get how they constantly fuck this up.

On purpose?

If nobody gets the loot for the first month or so, then they have time to re-tune the content to fix whatever methods the playerbase figured out to "cheapen" it (a.k.a. playing the content with a brain).

I should add that I've heard people who work as game developers actually utter things like "If the players don't fail this encounter 75% or more of the time for the first 6 months, it's too easy."

Could be worse, I suppose. We could have the DDO version of "The Sleeper" (a.k.a. Kerafyrm from Everquest) where GM's actually log in and ban/boot/teleport you if you get close to actually defeating it.

I imagine a chance of +3 tomes will be bait for some since the loot tables and chest levels should be right for them.

Was there an explanation for that? Something like a spell like effect that was then subject to heighten, maximize, empower, scaling etc?

Sad thing is that it is shitty implementation of something people have asked for.
What the playerbase says - we want a raid that doesn't revolve around beating on a big bag of hit points, and we want it in the worst possible way.
What turbine heard. The worst possible way part.

You made me go a Googling, having never played Everquest, and I found this:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?start=&topic_id=435386

I don't particularly care for an unkillable thing, but I do think it would be good to have a one off Event. People still talk about the market tent and it's good that it's referenced in Chronoscope. In a way, Turbine missed a trick with the expansion there.

+3 tomes are a joke, I still have 20 unbound on a mule. It had better be +4 or better. hell you can get +4 from Tod, +3 from a new expansion many levels higher would be a fucking disaster.

I don't quite have that many, only about 8 or 10 left, so +3 tomes hold so fascination for me. Everyone of my toons that needs a +3 has already used one.

+5 or GTFO.

We're working really hard on this raid right now. There will be some changes, some of them you might not even hate.

But spell point damage stays. Its function is punitive: if you get zapped for spell point damage (and you have a mana bar), then you were clearly in the wrong place at the wrong time. Further, this damage is much, much higher on elite and hard. It's statted as "something skilled players will never get hit with". There's a pattern for people to learn and follow. This is raid content and it will require people to exhibit a certain level of skill to be successful.

Healers, on the other hand, will have the easiest time avoiding this damage altogether. We left plenty of rocks and other random phallic objects for you guys to hide behind. I expect casters and ranged dpsers to have a harder time with this.

Paladins and melee fvs will still be viable because there will be plenty of things for them to tank and beat down, besides Lolth, and the raid will require multiple tanks. It's just one of these tanks should probably not have a mana bar if he or she likes blue pixels on their screen.

It's a lot easier to chucg store pots when you don't have to pay for them. Maybe that's why the devs don't give a fuck about well designed non-horrible raids?

LeLoric and I don't see eye to eye much, but he made a stellar point in the CitW thread that got nuked by Cordovan. In a nutshell, he told FF to have lunch with the class designers, because FF doesn't have a clue how bad he's fucking blue bar melee.

Anybody else getting the impression over the last year or so that the systems, loot, and quest teams are all locked away in their own separate rooms, and just don't fucking talk to each other unless someone forces them to?

Yep.  As evidenced by Feather of Sun saying he didn't care about the implications his changes had on Cannith Crafting.

It'd fit with pretty much all of his other statements and actions on all the other crafting systems, but still, at the risk to my blood pressure: Linky?

I'm planning on farming for my missing chrono scrolls when U15 hits. I should have 3 of every life then and I bet the scrolls will be dropping pretty good since no one will be doing the raid anymore.

FF is clueless:

Quote:
In closing, the signal to noise ratio so far has been abysmal, I see very little actionable feedback. To summarize the thread:

1. I/We/Everybody/Some Players hate escort quests
2. Spell point damage really?
3. I/We/Everybody/Some Players hate mazes
4. There was one person who wondered about something being WAI, and it was.
5. Too annoying/Not enough challenge

Very little actionable feedback my ass.  He wants us to design the god damned raid for him.
