Have you guys even been PLAYing the game these past few weeks??? It's not seals or shards or prefixes or two locked doors or mobs in walls or falling damage. 10 minutes hovering in midair is what's breaking the game.

...but don't worry they performing maintenance on the billing system so they will get their money on time.

This is why its hard to take the whiny bitches seriously. Bitching for the sake of bitching, makes you a bitch.

Arent you in a computer related industry you should understand the whole unrelated to game issue updating billing (possible Turbine changing service providers) is to game performance or Tolero's stupid update videos?

I pulled shards for the torc, but I didn't have a caster at the time, so they went up for roll.  Now my envoker has 2 green blades and 2 torcs so I can epic one of each, but I can't pull what I need.

Undecided

DQ is probably my favorite raid.  I think I burned myself out a bit on it by doing raid bypasses to get my envokers gear.  I definitely have more epic DQ stuff then any other raid though.

I am in a computer related industry and you know what would happen if we had 12 hour downtime on an entire production environment? They would probly fire all of us. Hell 12 minutes would be oh shit territory. The crap Turbine and other MMO companies get away with is horrifying.

On the topic of unbound seals and shards:

I agree.  Make them unbound or give us a 3 for 1 trade in vendor like the DQ scrolls.

Later, add commendation based upgrades to the Level 20 epic items and make the commendations drop in the raid/end quest of each chain.  Base Epic can be raised to 23/24/25 just like the other stuff.

Many people are avoiding old epics due to the grind vs. new gear.  It's not that there isn't some decent, useful stuff.  But the juice isn't worth the squeeze with a very few exceptions.

It's a game.  It does not compare to downtime on a business product for obvious reasons.

industry standards, what can I say. You think Turbine or other MMO companies want the down time? Especially when they have a microtransaction means of generating revenue... how much money do you think they lose in a 12 hour downtime?

What would those be? You have customers paying for a business service just like we pay for DDO. Why should there be no downtime in one and extensive downtime in the other? Give me one good reason.

One is being used by a business to make or provide goods and services which a third party is paying for and has a real financial or legal repercussions and liabilities, and the other is used to waste time and fill the void in your empty and meaningless life.

It's probably more important for a gaming company...

Downtime is time when your customer is not playing your game.  They are doing something else.  possibly trying another game.  If they find a new drug, they might stop using your drug.

12 hrs downtime might be a net positive for Turbine. It is 12 hrs that the game won't lag or crash and run off paying customers.

It was interesting to me that Amazon found that they lost pretty much zero money from downtime, no matter how long - people just bought stuff later.

DDO isn't the same since a lot of it is consumables used during play time, but I wouldn't be surprised if some amount is just delayed rather than lost.

There is something quite satisfying about finally making an old school Epic item. Knowing that you worked to get it instead of just trading for it or buying it off the AH feels great when it's finally done.

The main problem is that most of the old epic items are out of date now and nowhere near as good as the new stuff. Especially when they totally nerfed half of it (ring of elemental essences, mask of comedy, etc).

The bandaid was 3:1 scroll exchange for Sands epic gear.  Agree that serious revamp needed.

Purely from business model, they need to make money from new packs as well as old packs, ie must keep all content relevant or go broke.

I suspect they have a chart that shows the percent of active accounts that own packs. The lower saturation packs will probably get some loot upgrade love at some point to encourage more purchases.
