I think most Americans would merely be amused at being called Canadian.  They'd tend to agree that they're all pretty much the same.

Canadians, on the other hand, get pretty pissy about being called or confused with Americans.  They have a chip on their shoulders about how they are definitely NOT Americans and they are NOT the same.

Funny shit I once had a canadian get all prissy cause someone asked if he was american, and I said well technically you are, he turned on me, and I said well Canada is in the america's right?

Though that distinction I sometimes make might have the U.S.A peoples angry at me, as yes there are lots of nations in the america's but only the people from the nation of the United States of America are to be called americans. Confusing world we live in......................

this distinction with being *american* did it have anything to do with the war of independence? To show how they are different to the other people in the then british empire. We are americans from the new world, we are different. Though the america's did cover the entire two continents and everything in them, american became to mean a citizen of the united states of america one of the biggest nations in those two landmasses, if not the biggest in terms of population? Surely the most powerful by far, in terms of military and economy/wealth.

Butterface.

Use in context:

I'd bang her. Great body. Butterface...

You might have to say it out loud in order to get its meaning.

I was wondering why Rubbinns was asking what a face was...

Then I conclude - he really doesn't know.

Doubtful. No trace of a quebecois accent. But then again, maybe he's not quebecois and from the western part of Quebec?

I'm 99% sure he was from a Western Canadian province, Alberta or Manitoba.

I vaguely remember reading or seeing something that hinted towards that...

As someone who has survived through Turbine layoffs before, I can tell you that it's a pretty stressful procedure. They ask everyone to sit at their desk and wait for an e-mail telling you if you still have your job or not. I don't envy anyone at Turbine right now. It must have been a pretty awful day.

One place I was at rounded everyone up in a conference room and when we left cubes were just empty.  We were scanning the room trying to figure out who was missing to know who was cut.

Too many bandwagons getting jumped on. Not enough QA and reliable income.

I guess every industry has it's moments of being obsolete before either diversifying or dying. I don't think MMO's will be an exception.

Tell that to the beancounters that manage companies from quarter to quarter with the plus and the minus column of an excel sheet... based on KPIs that are irrelevant to the actual business.

They are going to tell you that all the industry is doing great and the quarterly financial reports show that.
