Honestly i remember them in old epics when they kinda came out.
They were freaking terible, even fully geared with claw and ravens set they were freaking horrible due to no wraps, then with tod sets n such they were freaking terrible since it took years to get rings you need.
They became ok with alchemical wraps and they had their shiney moments when qpalm worked.
But now, a wraps monk, purely monk wraps intended to play as stunlocker is horribteribad compared to almost everything else you can build.

I mean its not bad, its ok with mortal fear n such.
But issue is there are so many builds out there that are so much better.
ANd the recent buff to harmor totally made evasion dodge more or less worthless.
But as said, tree builds are super amazing and got monk icon lol, if you can call that a monk (i dont consider trees and monkchers monks, but pure fisters or staff users which are all quite bad currently)

38 wis yields 1.8784 arrows per shot
42 wis yields 2.0005 arrows per shot
46 wis yields 2.1341 arrows per shot
70 wis yields 2.805 arrows per shot
Delta between 38 and 42 is 0.1221
Delta between 42 and 46 is 0.1336
Delta between 46 and 70 is 0.6464

So as you can see your returns actually increase around 42 wis.
At much much higher values your returns are diminished (not possible to get there as a secondary stat and very buff intensive as a main stat).

Regardless of the cutoff point where returns are diminished (not near 42) that is not the point rather as that the returns from wis still out weigh returns from your damage stat.
Keep in mind that more arrows shot are more adrenaline generated as well.

Monkchers are solid and are great at certain quests/raids - Yes.
Monkchers are top dps - No.

I've always been curious what the difference is between a ranged build and a melee build, when the ranged build is pounding away on a target before the melee gets there but the melee does more damage once he does get to the target. 

Could never come up with a way to test or quantify it though.

There is no absolute best only situationally best although, some builds shine in more situations than others.
This shows as the ideal group for the large majority of quests/raids consists of several different builds.
FoT with 12 monkchers is an exception of the rule .
