This is the only benefit reaper difficulty should have:

With a streak of 5 or greater, a quest completion grants a full level.

BAM!! I am fucking sold. Otherwise, who fucking cares?

no shit.

I guess it's because that equates to asking for a different
reward level, not a different difficulty level?  And I've played
a shitload of games (in fact many, many more games
behave this way than the way you claim) where changing
the difficultly did not result in better rewards - just more
difficulty.

This.

I agree that to get everyone to run it it needs better loot, but that's exactly why they shouldn't give better loot. Because this isn't for everyone, it's for the people who complain the game is too easy. For them, the reward is not being bored anymore, the challenge is the reward. For everyone else, there's Elite. If you make the loot and favor better, then you are right back in the vicious cycle of asking for it to be nerfed by too many people to ignore.

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

exactly. Imho it shouldnt offer better loot, tho i can imagine it would give some cosmetics just for epeen measuring. It s working in other mmos, so why not here?

Absolutely, bragging rights are hugely important and don't disrupt game balance. Other games have web sites with leader boards, etc, and in-game cosmetics, those are great ideas.

This has potential.

Make it all lvl 30. Now, there's a full end game for cap. Need loot pass for it though.
Might make group dynamics important like old epics.
Consider running old raids at lvl30 reaper diff for scaled loot.

Assuming we're going to get something much better from the skeleton crew left at DDO is wishful thinking. Although, if they took their time with this, it could be pretty dang sweet imo.

What if it applied to ALL quests and raids scaled to lvl 30? For some stuff, it wouldn't even have to have loot. Give me a hardcore lvl 30 Cannith Crystal. Ok maybe not, but there are a lot of older low level quests that might be fun. Then again, if they haven't been epicified yet, maybe it's too much work?

I dunno...

In any case, I don't see this as a BAD thing. People are just whining that it's probably not going to be as good as it could be. But, that's life Turdbine.

Hmm perhaps I should say not necessarily better power wise, but maybe "exclusive" things like cosmetics, mounts, titles. Or maybe the cooperative gameplay - essentially "put all that work into good use, or play your character with others in the hard content" can be reward itself.
But ddo is lacking it. There always should be at least little something that would make you at least consider harder difficulty or play outside your comfort zone.
I'd think at least mmorpgs follow that "play harder - see more of the game" ideal. But I have maybe limited mmo experience (Diablo 2, AoC, Lotro, serious Wow ) I admit.

Totally fine with all of that - I proposed 'STEAM' style
achievement unlocks - if that floats your boat.

What I'd like to avoid is another tiered gear merry go
round ending up in the same place we're already at.

The only gear type reward that makes sense to me is a cosmetic no ML tabard/helm showin' off the uber-ness that may be upgrade-able to add a slot or 2 from running more reaper settings.

But really, the challenge should be the reward for those requesting this thing but having *some* reward that is usable in all levels of content is incentive for more player base to strive for this.

be honest though.  once players beat a quest on EXTREEEME REEEPER difficulty what incentive will they have to run it again if all they get is a shitty 'look-at-me' cosmetic?

That doesn't work, most people don't care.

The loot needs to be the incentive, even if it's just a cunt' hair better than non-reaper loot.

I ran a zillion Epic OoBs for +6 DEX and +2 to-hit over non-epic items, it doesn't have to be game-breakingly better, just a little.

bah you know as well as I do that as soon as enough people whine about it being to hard that the liberal no child left behind group will force a nerf or the items will become available on the other levels of difficulty.

Frankly the idea of having to beat down every group of mobs for an extra 5 min before proceeding to the next group to beat down leaves me cold. Half the boss fights are just put your toon on auto attack and go take a dump/surf porn/make a sammich etc and hope the damn thing is to stupid to move so your not swinging at air when you come back..

Reaper diff should be for those who claim the current game is
too easy.

Why are they calling this "Reaper" difficulty?  "Mythic" is a term they have already thrown out as something, in loot terms that is better than epic.  Why not go with that?  "Reaper" just sounds lame.  I understand they want to avoid "Extreme" because there is already an HE and EE difficulty, but I'm sure they can find another synonym.
