Possibly. But regardless of who was the weaker link, management has all the power in the relationship. They can say who is to blame, and they can fire people. Even if they are wrong they often get away with much just because no one wants to call them on the BS and risk losing their own job.
I can't know who was right or wrong, I have no inside scoop into turbine. I just laid out what I thought would be the most likely scenario if a bunch of developers rolled out a DOA product.
Oh I agree, manglement is rarely blamed when it comes to blunders like the DOA called IC. People lower in the corporate food chain ( usually at the bottom but if the Fail is big enough lower level Manglement can get hit too ) gets the blame and are pruned when time comes to cut the loses.
I was just pointing where Turbine obvious failure is hidden...
- I'm certain that if Cordovan wasn't bound by the retarded rules Manglement gave him to manage the forum he would be somebody you could talk with.
( just to please Ash : I actually know it as a fact, in the PC forum he is not bound by thse rules and he is almost Strake like in his management way )
- I'm certain that if the GMsd weren't bound by the anal retentive rules set by Manglement they could help us a lot more in game.
( just to please Ash again : In Europe the GM could complete quests, spawn items, spawn mobs, kill mobs stuck in walls, and so much more, they could
even spend hours with a guild leader to get a robe just right as a uniform for a guild. )
- I'm convinced that if Manglement didn't castrate the development team for DDO we could have had a much better game.
( but OTOH DDO has always been the ugly duckling : first as a LOTRO Beta test platform, then as a kobold that doesn't want to die... so it was given to
the specialist in undead games : Severlin [ that's a third game in his bag after AC and AC2 ] )
