So there is this rather smelly sock on the official forum full of holes. The most off repeated hole so gaping he is more of a ankle warmer then a sock is this idea that people can't become undead in 3e+ dnd and be healed by negative energy a mechanic that most certainly does exist in the rules.

I mean id love to call him a troll and prop him for it but when you post blatantly wrong info as fact your not trolling your just spouting ignorance like another stupid niggah

I mean damn niggah the reason no one has hardly responded and its got a laughable half dozen pages is because people have wasted pages posting the PNP rule that clearly puts to rest any questions about it.

So to that socks owner I say for shame. Wasting a sock named after one of my fave movies to just come off as woefully ignorant about the mother games rules makes this one a sad vaultie.

I want to see better trolling from you mister. Use real issues that force people to think for a moment rather than laugh and dismiss out of hand.

I know you can do it. Be better. I believe in you Cheesy

Understand the depths of his idiocy.  He calls PM self-healing via aura "cheating" because he says it does not exist in PnP.

That's like playing War (the card game) and claiming that your 2 beats your opponent's Ace because in Blackjack an Ace can be valued as a 1.  His assertions are exactly that stupid.

He s not sock - at least of anyone notoriously known here, tho he is on Vault too. I know this guy from my server.

and, well - if aura or necro heals are cheating or not is just matter of opinion. He s right that in PnP is wizard the squishy guy dealing damage from behind, even if he s palemaster. There are not such way like presented in ddo to heal self. One of traditional ones was Vampiric touch, which required squishy to get into actual combat if it wasnot metaed with Reach spell and only gave temporal hps.

Pale Master from DDO is just product of someone design decision which is definitely not based much on original game. Saying if its good or bad decision is purely subjective.

I would see point of his tirade in "If u want beat dog u ll always find a cane". With every change there are always crybabies unable or just not wanting to adapt and crying loud to save their precious builds pointing fingers all over other classes.

No, it isn't a matter of opinion.  It is the way the game works.  It's not an exploit, not any kind of cheat.  It's not even perching in a safe spot.  It is spending your enhancements in a perfectly legitimate way.  Calling it a "cheat" because the rules are different in a different game is just retarded.

What's hilarious is that Death Aura is underperforming. If it worked the way the spell description has always said it's supposed to, it would be twice as effective.

First let me say yes I know ddo' s palemaster is its own thing not arguing that one bit.

My point is more along the lines of anyone in PNP can become say a vampire then with any access to spells that do negative energy damage can be used as a form of healing magic for the undead.

The idiot under discussion seems unaware of that simple fact. Yes in DDO they made undead racial templates part of the pm package. IMO a lost opportunity they could make each racial template into an entire enhancement tree and sell it like harper. Obviously only one could he active at a time on a toon so no vamp liches etc.

For example any cleric can become a lich and use its hurt spells to heal. A wizard who is turned into a vampire could use a weapon that inflicts negative energy on itself to heal.

Ghd seems to not get that negative energy is how undead heal period and many ways exist to he undead that do not depend on being a wizard specifically in PNP.

Fun example in a pre- made campaign there was a cursed ring that did 2d4 neg energy damage each round. One of the savvy players kept this ring and eventually used it after turning into a lich as a potent ring of regeneration. That is how negative energy works on any undead.

Ever since ftp and mass mule accounts socks have been made some burned through them faster then others but no reason to think that someone like ghd  is other then a sock old enough to have some real stink on and so crusty and full of holes as to barely cover the user.

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't you just create a "sock" within minutes without any effort?

Reading the so called "mother boards" without having an account and being logged in is easily possible for every single internet user. Which is why I find it redundant or silly to regularly full quote release notes here.

And I also don't understand the paranoia about standing near a bank for a longer period of time making you suspect of duping.

To be clear, the percentage of brown nosers on the so-called "mother boards" (by using this word, are you considering yourself to be on a "child" or "derivate board" I am wondering?) is considerable higher over there, and I like the possibility of free speech here, but damn this board is a hotspot for idiots unseen on the web.

Since you seem adamant about knowing the bloke can you ask him if he is being serious? Because if he is he is in ignorance making himself appear a great ass.

Any undead is healed by neg energy. Any wizard can become a lich in PNP and learn the various negative energy spells to use as self healing and a cleric that goes lich which is a thing in PNP can most certainly use cause wound spells to heal.

yep, any undead is healed by negative energy, but aside couple cause wounds spells, harm - which are divine spells, theres not so big repertoire of negative spells which u can use for self healing. there are no easybuttons like death aura and lesser death aura there as well as no negative energy burst (its epic divine feat actually there)

sure any caster of some level (i m oldschool so i m used to 18th level wizard or cleric, and wish or miracle needed in proces, with fair chance of utter destruction in proces, but i know in 3.5 its bit easier) though still have some more requirements than be just wizard or cleric

Anyway it still have nothing to do with fact that the way DDO adapted thingy they call palemaster into game is just abomination:)

Negative Energy Burst is a 3.0 arcane spell in the Tome & Blood book.

Any intelligent undead can take levels in Wizard.

The Pale Master prestige class and most of the other source material DDO used for the PM tree is in the Libris Mortis book.

and all of that actually doesnot matter:)

anyway pale master in pnp is not undead, depite his undead like imunities, so he doesnot heal via negative energy. and in other ways is pretty different than what we have ingame

negative energy burst is way weaker in pnp than the ingame one and iirc burst doesnot affect caster.

etc. etc. imho point is that via palemaster and coresponding new magic they gave to wizards unprecedented advantage without any tradeoffs - they cant be healed by positive dmg (who cares?), bigger damage from light? aside couple divines in lower quests no one except eladrins did any significant damage and so on  (i still remember when we were doing all palemasters run of old epics ADQ2 - killing lailat just with our auras and couple NEBs while chatting carelessly)

As I said, they used other stuff from Libris Mortis as well. Such as the Veil of Undeath spell, which makes you heal from negative energy and grants undead immunities.

All spells are weaker in P&P, because enemies are built on the same scale as PCs instead of 10-100x statwise. Also P&P burst is not necessarily centered on the caster, so you can choose to include yourself in the AoE or not just like Fireball or whatever.

Every class has unique abilities, few have "tradeoffs",...but how is self-healing an "unprecedented advantage" exactly?

as u said, its spell, not toggle.

spells in ddo - those original ones were scaled same as pnp ones - fireball is still doing 1d6 per CL up to 10d6. magic missiles deals standard damage. BUT pnp negative burst deal 1d8+1/CL (up to +10) in PnP, but 5d4+20 in DDO. Sure u may argue its one level higher tho its still way stronger than pnp version. so there were created spell for palemasters which is stronger

is there, or better was there, any other class with no acces to divine healing which gained some sort of self healing system?

Yes. Not that it matters since every class can self heal.

Look I'd rather that game be closer to P&P as well. I won't argue against that, but it's not P&P, it is an adaptation...it is literally impossible to 100% accurately model P&P in a live action MMO.

You could do a initiative/turn based game, where any ~5 second delay is a pass so one person can't bog it down for everyone else.  Move on a square grid map (I prefer a hex map but D&D went with squares for some stupid reason and then had to do that 'diagonals count as 1.5 idiocy), actually use reach and AOO.  It'd be a decent game, maybe.
