Seems pretty likely the 2 situations are related.  Reading the rest of the thread I linked, the spam on their social media that Cordovan is claiming, and the lfms being posted, it seems like the person had their own airship and used guild chests for personal storage, got banned/or went to the loony bin for a bit, and want to get the airship/loot back via another account. 

Yep, same guy from above mentioned post. He was upset that someone told him to kill himself, so he reported them. The he used the word "frak" in a thread or conversation or something. He was banned for 7 days. when the ban was lifted, they decided to ban him for life a few hours later.

didn't know that he stalked someone though. next time I see him on, I may have a different conversation. provided he doesnt get an IP ban, or a second hole in his body

This is what happens when unstable minds are allowed access to the internet.

They get 150% involved in the alternate reality, that they don't understand that it is just bits and bytes.

Then, when their mental state goes haywire, this shit happens.

Personally, if I was in charge, anytime anyone pulled this crap I would IP Block.  No game playing and no forum posting.

I would also post some sort of HUGE stickied thing on the forums and make a webpage stating why certain IP addresses are blocked.

Of course, the Politically Correct People would come out in force.

without any further information, theres no more levels to go up through. the incident must have started when jade ass' character/ actions prompted someone to ask him to kill himself, and was exacerbated when jade ass' character/ actions prompted his defenders to ban him multiple times. He comes back with an incomplete story and due to CoC we never hear the unbiased version. i think for the purposes of video game court there is enough evidence to reach reasonable conclusions that jade ass had to have been in the wrong, despite not having actual undeniable proof. its not a case of murder, its a case of gay retardation on the internet. the events all occurred for a reason. He was the target of these events because he was the cause of these events

So the entertainment opportunity here would be to roll up a f2p account and create a toon on each server then tell the poster of the LFM to frakking kill themselves.

Not just the Politically Correct People, but the Technically Savvy People.  Unless you actually pay more for a static IP address, which you no longer even need to do if you are running your own server, no major ISP will issue you a permanent IP address.

So as a company running a business over the Internet, permanently blocking IPs is a stupid solution, because all it does it temporarily block the guy you wanted to block permanently, while permanently blocking any potential customer who is issued that IP address in the future.

In other words, it's not the solution you're looking for.  It doesn't permanently block people you want to block, and it can block legitimate customers you didn't intent to block.

Still there's way to know if a given IP is from the DHCP pool of an ISP or if it's a real static IP.
Also, most ISPs nowadays uses some kind of NAT for some of their customer addresses, because the don't want to bother with IPV6. ( they won't have much choice )
It all depends on the type of internet access you have... Here, FTTH is Fixed IP ( V4 and V6 ), DSL varies between the ISPs ( fixed for some, fully DHCP for other, Semi fix for some [ Semi Fix = you get an Address from the DHCP every time the lease ends, you get back the same address, it takes a Box restart to get a new one ]. )

Anyway, most ISP use 7 days lease, so if you do an IP Block you leave it for 7 days... since you know that by that time the idiot you blocked will have changed his IP.

I talked to this poor guy for about 45 minutes today. He is from Spain, has multiple IP addresses (beyond my skills), and was banned back in June. He has been unemployed for over a year and spent that time, instead of looking for jobs, grinding past lives, tomes and gear.

On a human level, it made me sad.
