	(Hint: it was 0) Let me begin by saying this is not a doom thread. So a friend of mine has(had) actually played Ashron's Call since launch, and as many of you know, the servers shut down today. Last night it was apparently busier than it's been in years. This morning my buddy was playing at at work, basically right up until the servers were shut down. Got his last 3 PvP kills in just as the hammer dropped. Apparently precisely zero fucks were given by WB/turbine as to the end of this era. No special events, treatments, or perks. They wuite litterally announced the impending shutdown a month ago, let everyone play, and unceremoniously flipped the "On/Off" switch to "off". And it's just over. No celebration, no closure. The point? While I don't think it'll be any time remotely soon(I think DDO has a good 5+ years left, min) I sure as fuck HOPE that when the time comes, DDO puts a little more effort into it's final goodbye.

	I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

That's an indication that they aren't on a strong financial ground. And coloring a black panther grey and calling it an alabaster lioness instead of an onyx panther isn't exclusive. Cordovan previously alluded to legal constraints due to the language that was used when selling the pre-release package. Perhaps the company name change makes all prior promises void, I'm not a lawyer so I don't know. All I can say is that Cordovan seemed to be sure that there was no way they could ever hand out onyx panthers in the future. And a can of spray paint doesn't make a stolen car any less hot.

	I wonder who did the AC shutdown.� The MMO team at Turbine was supporting AC for the last several years.� But the MMO team left Turbine to form SSG about 45-60 days ago.� So AC was with Turbine still and all their mobile gaming people.� Chances are the Turbine devs who have been babysitting AC for the last month or so don't really care about a 15 year old MMO.� They have no emotional investment in that game.� It is possible that Turbine contracted SSG to continue support through the shut down, but no idea what that contract looked like and whether Turbine paid for any extra bells and whistles at shut down.� If I'm SSG, I would have taken that short term transition contract and used that time to heavily encourage those stalwarts to move their gaming time and experiences to DDO and/or LotRO.� A little shutdown flair, even if not required/paid for by Turbine might have been a nice way to bridge people to their ongoing products. Maybe everyone with a current sub to AC at shutdown gets a free 1 month ViP sub to DDO or LotRO.� Something like that would be a nice spiff that might transition some gamers.�(That would have even netted them a golden "dont call me onyx" lioness companion)

	I could see that.. a package based on how long you had been playing... non-transferable/BTC hearts and stones, some boosts to get into the swing of things... would have been interesting for folks trying to make the transition

	The interesting bit is that it brought out of the woods lots of people that had tools for AC. At first glance a few of them might be of use for DDO once adapted.
