What was the mimic "exploit"?

Just wondering, it shuts off in 3 hours. But they didn't do shit vs last year. It's not so weak that it's the Korthos chests, pray god? Anything good? Guessing it was weak shit anyway just like that. Panty wastes.

Well, I hope they ban themselves for that.

I would say I hope they delete their characters, but that would only be an improvement.

Nothing to PM.  SSG fucked up and let mimics spawn in guild chests.  But before you get all happy about it, they were CR 42 and deleted all the chest contents when spawned.

Oh, and they patched it Tuesday.

No, there was something beyond that. Cordovan mentioned it on the live stream this week (after the patch). He said it was still going on and wasn't necessarily an exploit, but it wasn't intended and something they needed to fix.

From what I gather, it was some method that allowed level capped players to farm mimics in much lower quests.

Just have a toon in your party and in the quest instance that is the correct level to get mimics.  Then it doesn’t matter what lvl the other party members are. 

That’s what happened to me the other day.  Didn’t think much of it till I saw this post

Pretty much this.

I TR'd my main-alt and ran through just to see how many mimic tokens I could acquire without effort just by play-through.

I ended with a grand total of maybe 20 tokens from the start of the event to close, running through Korthos and low level Harbor/Market quests.

That includes re-runs for XP farming along the way.

It's kind of sad, the mimic trade-ins have some fun little items that new players could use or would be fun for niche builds, but the costs are so outrageous and the event so short in duration I don't know one person who has one, or would even bother trying to farm for them.

Typical poor SSG implementation.  Roll Eyes

Supposedly mimic bait ignores ransack and level restrictions.  But why would they fix that, it's a reason for people to buy mimic bait.
