GP Taipei lists are up.

https://www.mtggoldfish.com/tournament/grand-prix-taipei-2019#online

Grand Prix are large events and are usually a 2 day affair due to number of opponents and rounds. This one had 1k players. 2 Grixis Bolas lists made top 8, 2 Bant Ramp decks as well. Bant Ramp took down the top 8. It also takes up 6 spots in the top 16. Should be the best deck right now.

Two other Bolas lists placed as well at top 64. One managed a top 32. Four color Superfriends, and the other deck is Amass Bolas https://twitter.com/ChannelFireball/status/1137701069302091776

The Esper list is very anti-aggro. The Jund deck is also very good. And a Nexus list made top 8.

For laddering on Arena WW or RDW are the best performing in BO1. Feather and Mono Blue are up there, as well as Gruul. That makes up the top 5 with Bant Ramp falling to 6th ( bit higher in best of 3 )..

More Planeswalkers, you said?

https://mythicspoiler.com/m20/index.html

Magic Core Set 2020 looks like it is set to take the Planeswalker fad and bury it.

I did end up going Superfriends for singleton. Ended up not needing to blow too many wildcards. It is nice needing only one of each thing. For lands I was able to get a set full set of 10 ravnica dual lands plus a full set of 2-color "comes into play tapped unless you have a x or a y" Plus an Interplanar Beacon and a Karn's Bastion. Spells are mostly planeswalkers, plus some removal, board wipes, and some triggers. Artificer's Assistant is nice, the one that proliferates on land drops is good, Flux Channeler can go bonkers. Proliferate is just really strong here. Sideboard is 15 different artifacts that Karn can wish for.

Honestly there's too much non-creature spell shenanigans in standard ATM. War of the Spark exacerbated the issue as well. Even the gods aren't sticky enough IMO. I think war of the spark is a flavor win but a Mechanics fail. The only really fun thing to come out of the meta are the sarkan decks in my opinion. Kiora was also a big win---its a blue or green dragon's hoard. Things like the arkbow, krenko, and feather all feel healthy but the removal is too dense for them to move to tier one.

The availability of wraths in combination with azcanta and narset means nothing you play is very likely to stick on turn 4, 5, or 6. The grul lists have even stopped playing Phoenix because it feels too slow. Baby tooth fairy provide so much tempo to control decks. Even creaure decks are playing it.

It's a crazy meta. And even War draft is different than most sets in how it plays out.

The spells and planeswalkers have sort of pushed aggro out. Red is barely played outside of BO1. Mid range decks have taken the top spots. The best planeswalker right now is looking like Nissa. She is the backbreaking card in every one of the bant manipulation decks, or the dreadhorde decks. 5 mana and she pluses into a 3/3 vigilance creature to defend until you can use her passive for double mana.

There are going to be more planeswalkers in M20. Maybe a Jace, Lilliana and Gideon Trifecta like Chandra is getting. Also, that 6 mana Chandra is good. Uncounterable and the emblem cannot be interacted with either. If she stacks more than 1 on you, you're likely dead that game. Powerful trend if the other walkers are getting anything similar.

I doubt aggro decks stay in the top spots going forward. They are still the best decks to ladder with on Arena and are good for short round events, but if you want to make the top spots of multiple round events like a GP or a Pro Tour then one of the Nissa decks is what you should be piloting.

I love singleton. Have tried Esper, Grixis, Bant, 4 color Dread, Green ramp, Drakes, Boros, White Weenie, Black/White mid range. Format is great for casual fun.

If you guys enjoyed this then you should look into EDH/Commander. Elder Dragon Highlander was the original name of the format invented by a former top level judge. It started as a casual way to play big slow decks using The Elder Dragons as your Commander. It is great fun.

MythicMagic

Use that code to redeem 3 random mythics on Arena. IDk how long the code lasts, might be a day or so.

Chance for Glory
Mesmerizing Benthid
Aurelia, Exemplar of Justice

Guess I should try that Jeskai agro deck that's floating around. Thanks for the heads up Rubby. I think Mesmerizing Benthid is a pretty good card atm with all the Mass Manipulation going on.

I went with lazy and reused the superfriends singleton deck for the counter madness event. Which actually worked fairly well, since it was made to proliferate planeswalkers.

...

Thanks for the code.

Thanks for the code.

NP, got the code from streamers on twitch last night.

The counters event was broken as fuk. So easy to die in that event since things just spiral out of control rapidly. I used Grixis Amass. Brutality + God Eternals were my game winning cards most games.

The current event we have now is bad for me since I do not have a robust collection. I just threw together whatever I could salvage from my Grixis cards.

For the ravnica block event I just deleted Gates Ablaze from my gates deck. It was still good enough. You need Arboreal Grazer and Growth Spiral for acceleration. A strong aggro draw can put you down before you get anything going, but that applies to most decks.

Am doing the eldraine sealed, and its much better than either M20 or War of the Spark. Wayyyyyyyyy less bombs, but still tons of fun cards.

Set is camelot theme'd.

Last month or so I converted this into a red/black deck. Does pretty good. Sucks giving up the board wipe, but Mayhem Devil is worth it.

4x Cauldron Familiar
4x Witch's Oven
4x Liliana's Triumph
2x Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger
4x Bedevil
4x Midnight Reaper
4x Mayhem Devil
4x Plaguecrafter

4x Liliana, Dreadhorde General
4x Fabled Passage
4x Evolving Wilds
4x Blood Crypt
5x Swamp
5x Mountain

...

Currently though I'm going infinite in Historic pauper with an amass deck.

4x Grim Initiate
2x Rimrock Knight
4x Lazotep Reaver
4x Spark Reaper
4x Honor the God-Pharaoh
4x Murder
4x Herald of the Dreadhorde
4x Radiating Lightning
4x Invading Manticore
4x Reaper of Night
4x Evolving Wilds
9x Mountain
9x Swamp

...only 1 historic spell, lol.

The moth looks like my kind of build around.

It's a great curve topper in an agro or midrange deck. White never gets good card advantage except like this. I suppose I'll play it with Tajic to protect from burn.

I had an opponent combo through most of his deck with Gyruda in one turn...which triggered 20+ direct damage from Syr Konrad.  Grin
