Rogue mit light armour imo.
Go pure for assassinate or splash two fighter if vistani.
We DPS tested a Rogue with 105 assassinate and he still had 16k DPS on an r5 bruntsmash.

He thinks daggers down drops DPS though and we did not test that.

If you're just doing a past life I would do a deeper splash of other stuff.

If daggers are non-negotiable, obviously dex rogue. With Vistani capstone you can splash up to 2 levels. Do not roll this build without 18 rogue. Light armor or pajamas depends on whether you splash monk. But I'd recommend that you do.

I would at least consider 18 rogue/1 ranger/1 monk. Especially since you have an extra feat that you don't know what to do with. Improved deflect arrows is really really nice.

I would definitely take Dire Charge and Scion of Ethereal for 29-30. Also Dodge is probably redundant if you have reaper points. You could fit in SoS at the end instead:

Legendary Dreadnought gives you a lot of mileage out of rogues SA class damage.
Shadow Dancer is for toons with already high base melee power IMO, although the destiny is highly underrated.

On most rogues, I find it's best to swap between LD and SD as dictated by the content you are running.

Pure VKF rogues are just non aoe tempest builds. If you actually want a good rogue you should be taking assassinate. And since you are going for assassinate, you will want pure rogue for max DC.

I wouldn't bother with assassinate with stealth the way it is.

LD unquestionably has the higher kobold dps tests, and in almost all content unquestionably takes the lead for solo dps.

However, pierce the gloom, shadow form, shadow mastery, meld into darkness, etc. are an extremely tempting package. I think there's a strong case to be made for Shadowdancer.

Pierce the gloom has enormous benefits to dps that you cant quantify on bruntsmash or kobold dps test.

Shadow form increases your defenses (allowing you to play even more aggressively) but also boosts your damage through hide increase.

Shadow Mastery increases everyone's (who matters - casters/healers aren't doing much damage) dps by 5%. This obviously works better in raids than it does in quests, but group dps buffs are enormously helpful (its one of the reasons I strongly advocate for rebuke foe).

Meld into darkness makes you nigh invincible when coupled with all your other tricks - 25% incorp, uncanny dodge, 50% displacement, AC, elusive feat, etc. - again defensive abilities like this make it so you can play fast and lose where in other scenarios you absolutely couldn't.

Add it to your stat boosts, netting you base damage and more importantly assassinate DC (+2).

In the end, if you are playing an assassin in high skull, I'm of the opinion that you should capitalize on assassinate for trash clearing (it is of my opinion that this cancels out most of the helpless damage boost from LD), and focus on single target boss dps (which can't be hard cced, often has cleaves, sometimes has uncontrollable aggro like devil in pt 2 of shroud). Stacking dps buffs on your entire party like shadow mastery is a good way to make completions quicker and smoother (imo).
