Ten kits are 245 pts.
How fucking poor are you?
'cause I'm really poor, and 245 points is really, really easy to come up with.
I'm far from poor. Clearly, there's a reason you're poor though and that statement is a good indication of why. You're bad at big picture thinking.
Sure, 225 points worth of tool kits isn't bad at all, but your point only stands if you just sit at cap on a single toon and TR maybe once every 6-12 months. Surprisingly, many people don't play that way and SSG hasn't designed the game that way. If they really wanted people to sit at cap, they'd not have put in 130+ PLs and would release more than one or two end-game raids and mission packs per year.
So it's only 225 points until you TR to a new build that uses different weapons. Then the total is 225 points for this TR, then 450 points for the next TR. Then 675 points on the third. And suddenly, you're 2k points in and realize you're fucking poor.
That's my main point and gripe with the sentient system. The *legit* leveling rate of the jewels is completely at odds with a game who's 'end-game' is frequently TRing your toon into different classes and builds. The one grind is completely out of touch with the other, which results in needing to do something stupid like repeatedly run a shitty, 2-min mission 300 times to sync the rates up.

Over time? Would it be so bad if you didn't max out a new grind on day 1? I remember getting GH dragon armors fully upgraded the first weekend on 4 characters and being...disappointed. Despite the extra power they delivered at the time.
I don't disagree with most of this, although I'm not even remotely disappointed in with 8-slot sentient jewels. The filigree system provides a great way to customize a weapon for your build and fill in some gaps. However, as mentioned above, the problem is the massive disparity in grind rates between TRs and leveling sentient jewels. Not being able to max out a sentient jewel on day one isn't bad, but not being able to max one out in 3-4 months of normal playing is.
It should be reasonable to be max a jewel if you were diligent about feeding it the majority of the named items you pulled while doing 2 or 3 full TRs and chilling at cap few weeks before the next TR. Currently though, the max jewel to TR rate is probably more like 1/15 since the majority of named items you loot during a TR aren't level 30. Grind is fine in moderation. SSG just doesn't understand what moderation is.

I mean, if you hate running this event as much as you say you do, shouldn't you be glad they nerfed this since you now have no incentive to put yourself through a shitty quest you hate?
I would be if there were other options for leveling sentient jewels in a reasonably and timely manner. There aren't though.
