This looks like just a bunch of cookie cutter builds. Where's the actual data?

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

...why do I feel like  "the_biggest_dog" is just a sock for "UnknownBuilder", who is also a sock?

I love talking about builds, but all this generic prefab shit is stinking up the boards.

enough with the sock shit for fuck sake. is it that shocking that new people would come to the board? no, no fucking socks here. I know you for Christ sake, I play on thelanis. Also feel free to point me in the direction of someone actually using the swashbuckler part of inq anywhere else, or even with the 11 ranger/6 rogue/3 bard level split. Obviously yes the 12 rog/6art/2rang and EK are both relatively cookie cutter. With 41 points locked in inq, 7 in harper theres not a whole lot of fucking variation. Pick a T4 or a smattering of t3's WOO!

This community is shit, the main boards are shit, so where can I actually get some build feedback? let me know, thanks!

Hi Welcome.

Do not try the patience of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.

We are dreamers, shapers, singers, and makers. We study the mysteries of laser and circuit, crystal and scanner, holographic demons and invocation of equations. These are the tools we employ, and we know many things.

The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

enough with the sock shit for fuck sake. is it that shocking that new people would come to the board? no, no fucking socks here.

Haha. So used to seeing the trashman post his trash that I didn't even look at anything past the first line.

Maybe in the future start the posts off with some sort of explanation.

Here is great. I fucking love to discuss builds. Just don't post a bunch of generic cookie cutter character planner shit. Thats what unknownbuilder does, and we make him bark for our entertainment.

Honestly? If you want to talk builds, start with "Here's what I'm trying to do". Posting 3 completed builds with absolutely no commentary makes it look like you're just using the board for scratch paper.

Fair point to both, just trying to figure out what the possibilities are for inq.

EK has a nice synergy bc of the amount of attacks, but falls short bc taking the level 18 core isn’t feasible while also picking up a stat to attack and damage. It also sacrifices a good amount of sneak attack, but makes up for it with tons of fire proc. I like the idea of Deep Gnome for color spray with mediocre to decent dcs, but with enough RAP I think Scoundrel scorch making all enemies vuln to fire could be the best racial combo.

The ranger version is what I am currently trying out on my main, and the combo of shoot later, sniper shot, aimed shot, and blow by blow makes gameplay much more interesting. Thinking it could even run in FoTW, lots of attacks means lots of vorpals, plus adrenaline sniper shot. Switching it to 11 rogue 6 ranger 3 bard would probably be a bit better dps; have to take IPS, but nets a few more juicy sneak attack dice. The extra 5 ranger levels don’t make a huge difference other than IPS, since rogue will nab evasion, but I wanted an EZ ranger life.

The last version I thought about would be 11 ranger 6 arti 3 bard(or some variation (9/8/3??)). Grabs the 11% swash doubleshot as well as killer in DWS. AP are a little tight for that, though insightful strikes frees up a little bit.

12rog/6art/2ranger is totally a cookie cutter but I had to include it for completion sake   Cheesy

I'd love to see what Inq can do, too Tongue I've been playing with it on a pure rogue and liking the results, but a bit too much clicking Tongue

So are you attempting to swash with the crossbow? I believe we worked out that with the way everything stacks, this actually only adds about 4% doubleshot.

Also, a lot of the archer feats don't seem to work on crossbows, are you seeing otherwise?

You lose the 5% from t4 inq, but gain 11% from core 2 and t3 scoundrel (nothing in offhand, not an issue if you don't have arti levels!), as well as +6 damage and +1 enhancement to weapon, for a net gain of 6%. The main draw for me was the AP cost at just 11. That leaves enough room to grab sniper shot and aimed shot, which are awesome for picking out nasty champs and such. A BE focused build will spend 27 AP to get 10 RP and 10% doublestrike (15% when accounting for t4 inq), but wont have room for any other tasty goodies.

11ranger/6arti/3bard could go 41 inq/23DWS/11Swash/6 harper. This would net 31% doubleshot with killer active. You'd also have to deal with 30 second KTA, no rune arm, and a good bit less sneak attack, but that doubleshot is quite juicy.

I'm interested to see what version of inq will come out on top; my gut tells me it will be 12rog/6arti/2something with a 41inq/27be/7harper/6whatever AP split. But thats boring! so ranger it is for me. Still need to math out an 11rog/6ranger/3bard version.
EDIT: 11rog/6ranger/3bard drops Epic reflexes, 1 BAB, a favored enemy. Gains 3d6 SA and a rogue feat (maybe opportunist for more fort bypass). Probably the way to go overall

Bow Strength and Manyshot do not apply of course, but IPS and rapid shot seemed to work fine! I can test any others if you let me know which you are seeing not work.

Here is a list of the splits I see being worth it; of note, the new heavy raid crossbow is divine focused, but other than that I think war soul has the worst synergy with inq. the lightcrossbow meanwhile will have vorpal AND armor piercing.

8rogue/6ranger/6arti--AP spend 41 inq/25DWS/7harper/8 anywhere

12rogue/6arti/2something--41 inq/27BE/7harper/6anywhere

12 rogue/6ranger/2arti--41 inq/25DWS/12harper/4 anywhere

11rogue/6ranger/3bard--41 inq/13DWS/12harper/11swash/4anywhere

11ranger/6arti/3bard--41inq/23DWS/11swash/6harper.

Rune arm damage will probably determine the winner.  Personally, i think its fucking stupid that you can wear a rune arm and equip two hand crossbows. Luckily i dont make the rules. Either way, 2d10 damage scaling with RP is nothing to sneeze at, especially when the margins between these builds seems so thin.

My screenshot above was 13 rogue/6 ranger/1barb, it was LD, using Mech core level 6 and DWS core level 6 + Harper and 41 INQ. 21 seconds on a first life build before Sharn gear is downright broken. I am not sure which variant to roll to try and beat that time. IDK if I even could beat that time because we don't know how much they changed the tree from when I did test them ( first lama preview of INQ ) to the second iteration on Lam.

I am leaning towards a Swash 12 ap for +7 damage and 11 dshot. 7 Harper for KtA. 11 Mech for Int to Damage core level 6. I can get that on a 17/3 split and net 12d6 Sneak Dice per bolt from just rogue levels and rogue epic feat advanced sneak attack. Or give up one sneak dice and get barb speed for even better kiting on 16/3/1.

I like the swash split a lot as well. just hate that it limits you to no rune-arm. High reapers that imbue may not do much damage at all though, so swash may come out on top.

If you go 23 mechanic you can get 10 RP, int to damage, and ooze flask for a -8 PRR debuff you can always have up. Looking at the new gear, you could hit 74% doublestrike WITHOUT any doublestrike boosts outside of inq. I.E. on reaper boost you are wasting some doubleshot. I'm now trying out 12 rog/6rang/2 arti, 23 in mech and 11 in ranger for sniper shot. +30m pbs is very nice, but it does mean taking another point out of harper for 30s KTA.

Also, not sure what youre taking from mech but if your main goal is int to damage, instead of 11mech/7harper you could do 12 harper/3 mech. Saves 3 ap, loses 1 SA die, gains 1 int and 1 RP. just another option if you can use the AP elsewhere (fighter level get another AB?)

I like the rogue shell mainly for the sneak dice and class features, the stat to damage in the mech tree is just something to grab along with 4 damage, 2 sneak dice, +15 meters PBS range for 11 ap.

I dislike the arty spell because of swapping to Dust, Vacuum, or Ice. Though for a more static group structure I think a build involving the artificer spell might be the highest potential dps split. Probably just because it shaves off 11-12 ap that every other build uses to get there.

The kta duration shouldn't be an issue depending on the amount of SP pots used. I like to keep kta going full time for melees, but that is largely because of the tactics bonus. I think not having it up every second is fine with ranged build, especially if youre just mowing down trash and forget to refresh timer.

It seems like the best 12 ap spent on any tree point for point. I think including this on the Inquisitive builds has got the most promise for being the better dps versions.

Sniper Shot is great in game on trash encounters since it is constantly available, but I think it is best on adrenaline bursts in Fury for crossbows. I failed to test Fury times at all.

Currently burning through a tiefling RPL on a similar plan. If I was going to take the build into epics (despite having ignored farming the event crossbow) I'd probably say 2 bard for blow by blow and deflect arrows or 2 fighter for the extra feats. FVS/Cleric could also work I guess.

I also considered doing the next racial as a pure fiendlock inquisitive with some extra bits in ES. Just abuse PBS while aura ticking, plus the light damage on hit proc is nice with your RoF. Since you aren't taking ES capstone, it might even work to go 2 arty just for the runearm as well.

it seems the biggest hurdle to inquisitive DPS is going to be lag. When activating endless fusillade and beginning to attack a large group of enemies, I get EXTREME rubberbanding/lag. This lasts for the entire action boost, and is 100% unplayable; enemies will stay frozen running in place for 3-4 seconds at a time, then suddenly teleport next to you and you've taken 3-4 hits already. While this isn't a problem on lower reapers, going into high reaper positioning is hugely important, especially for lining up IPS shots and applying debuffs. I am going to take a recording and get it up on youtube to see if I can get some answers. I have played extremely high attack speed characters so I've experienced DPS lag, but nothing like this. Hopefully some more answers soon.
