No heighten. Probably fine in epics, but you want in heroics.

You went Beacon set instead of Flame Cleansed or Esoteric.

You went Night Mother+ Orb rather than Spiral or Eclipse or Wild Flame.



I assume you’re looking to bring up the physical damage of the meteors?


I’m also curious what filigrees you think are best.

Newer sets are +3-4 more DCs. (or is artifact stat covered elsewhere in your gear that I'm not seeing?)

FC is +10% crit chance. THIS plus medium armor defense is why a lot of Fire Sorcs go with that set.


EDIT: Hmm.. DCs ARE lower, but I missed that Regalia has 10% lore.. that applies to fire, force, and acid. Hmm.. That IS interesting.

I must be missing stuff in spell power. But, it looks like you're missing a main combustion item. Or did you know that the belt STACKS with a normal enhancement item? For example, I use a Leg. Wild Flame atm for 202 normal plus 24 insightful over yours +29 spellcasting implement= 255 more spell power.

https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Legendary_Pendant_of_the_Azure_Sky is also real solid if you can slot it in. But most people do the Minor Artifact like you have. (I do as well).

I've been using Legendary Hruit's Influence personally, It misses the charisma bonus but includes the Pendant of the Azure Sky. That said when I get my main done with his racials I'm going to think about building around Flamecleansed Fury.

I've always thought heighten was overrated. Especially in heroics.

I've used Esoteric before. Going back to Beacon because the Esoteric goggles and bracers aren't that great to begin with and mostly overlap with stuff you need to slot anyway.

Yeah, heighten not needed in heroics at all.
been playing a fire sorc for numerous racial past lives.  Never had to worry about a nuking spell and mobs saving.

Help me think this through.

PL Wiz and all the Spell Focus feats ARE worth it for 1 DC each. But, heighten can give several DCs.

Lvl 16 you have access to lvl 8 spells. Heighten does this:

Knock & Web: +6 DC
Acid Blast & Fireball: +5 DC
WoF & Acid Rain +4 DC
Cloudkill & Hold Monster + 3 DC
All 6th Lvls +2 DC
All 7th Levels +1 DC

Unless I'm missing something, it seems that Heighten is better than PL Wiz at 12. There's even an argument for completionist.


Look I've always used it anyway. So, maybe you barely notice the saves or saves for half on a nuker. Stuff just takes another shot sometimes? If you're fine on SP, then you're fine.

It does nothing for your highest level spells spells. It does nothing for your most spammed spells: SLAs. (There seems to be conflicting information on this point, but AFAICT, Heighten does nothing for SLAs even though it lets you turn it on/off and all that.) AND you'd be giving up an evo focus, so that's -1 DC to all of your Draconic ED stuff, all of your 9th level spells, all of your SLAs.

It is good for Web. I'll give you that. But I don't cast Web very often anymore. Sorcs are for zerging. If you want to play DC caster, then yeah, Heighten all the way. But that's mroe of a wiz thing. If mobs are saving against the sorc, you usually just cast 1 more spell, or target a different save, or worst case scenario switch to no-save spells.

Knock isn't DC based. (It's a caster level check)
If I'm casting non-SLA fireball/acid blast at high level, then I'm trying to conserve SP. So doubling to tripling the cost doesn't sound appealing.

Firewall and Acid Rain only have a save on the first tick.

Cloudkill is mainly for granting the party 20% concealment vs bosses with true seeing.

I wouldn’t say it’s a trash build but it appears optimised for easy content. If you are looking for an endgame build this is not it.

Some go Flamecleansed set for the PRR/MRR. Your thoughts?

Also, a broader question: if you get monsters with a hold spell, are their reflex saves the same, or is there some reduction?

Huh

It's 6 base dex with one dex item. I didn't equip Celestial Sapphire for the dex, but if you are going to wear it, you might as well craft something rather than nothing into the Nearly Finished slot. And +10-11 to AC and Reflex is not nothing.

I guess I could do Con on the ring and Int on the goggles to get +10-11 spellcraft instead.
